maybe most talented ever, but not greatest ever. you can't call a team the greatest ever when they don't even win the national championship. and half those guys weren't even starters that year. doesn't matter how good a player is if he's not playing

I think I counted 23 pro players and 13 pro bowlers.

Want a RB? How about Clinto Portis, Frank Gore, Najeh Davenport & Willis McGahee.

Need a TE? How about Jeremy Shockey or Kellen Winslow.

Seeking a WR? Andre Johnson and Roscoe Parrish.

OL aint too shabby either: Vernon Carey, Chris Myers, Bryant Mckinnie and Carlos Joseph.

CHECK OUT THIS SECONDARY: Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, Antrel Rolle & Mike Rumph (with Phillip Buchanon).

DJ Williams and Jonathon Vilma are pretty good LBs, right.

The DL had their guys as well: Vince Wilfork, William Joseph & Jerome Mcdougle.

ANYWAY.... This is sort of Bronco related.... We had a few of these 'Canes. Still have DJ! Just thought we could take a break from Orton, Marshall and Mcd. Discuss something fun.
The only reason their considered the greatest of all time is cause most of them ended with maybe 2 good seasons in the NFL. If they didn't do good in the NFL then nobody would see them as the greatest. Let me break it down.

Clinton Portis - A solid back in the NFL. Did most of his damage in Denver, hasn't been nothing more than an average running back since going to Washington.

Frank Gore - 1 good season in the NFL, seems to get hurt more now. On a bad team

Willis McGahee - Another guy with really 1 good season. Never really recovered from that injury in the NC game.

Shockey - First 2 years were good but nothing since.

Winslow - Very solid TE, seems to be coming around after all the injuries

Andre Johnson - Awesome receiver, very underrated, would take him anyday.

        Parrish - #2 receiver

OL - can't say I've been impressed with any

Ed Reed - By far the best of the bunch, HOF material

Sean Taylor - Will never know how good he could have been.

Rolle - Not living up to the hype

        DJ - Solid linebacker

Vilma - Bad move leaving the Jets, hasn't done anything since.

Wilfork - Pretty awesome, makes the Pats D go.

        McDougal - Bust

Nah im pretty sure theyre considered one of the best ever because they started the season at #2 and won the national title going undefeated in the process. But while doing that they kicked the living crap out of almost every team they played. Beating #14 Syracuse and #12 Washington, 59-0 and 65-7 in consecutive weeks is an NCAA record for the largest margin of victory over consecutive ranked teams. They averaged 42 ppg. And allowed, I think, only about 10 ppg. Thats pretty ridiculous.

The fact that they had that much talent on the team only solidifies the fact that theyre one of the best. They had 6 All-Americans. 13 All-Big East players. Coker won COTY. Kenny D won the Maxwell.

All personal bias aside, that was one freakishly good football team.

                *sigh*

                As do I.
Now were stuck with 7-6 teams with no swagger and constantly losing to North Carolina.

Why cant we beat North Carolina?! O_o

Ah, that was another great one. The 90's FSU teams with Derrick Brooks, Sam Cowart, Warrick Dunn, Charlie Ward and Marvin Jones were amazing!

13 or 14 losses in the 90's while going unbeaten at home for the decade...man those were the days alright.
