I am not saying it would happen, but I thought about it today and I don't see a reason why it couldn't. Shanny has flirted with college jobs before, or at least has been mentioned(florida numerous times). He loves Colorado and in fact still resides here. The people of Colorado love him, by a huge margin I would guess.

He could recruit like crazy I think, and his running game would be awesome in college IMHO.

I honestly think it would be a perfect fit. Shanny is getting a little older and college, it is fairly well known, doesn't command the same kind of hours that the Pros do. And, if Shanny could turn that program around they would make Holidays in celebration of his awesomeness, erect statues, hell they might just rename the state in his honor.

Not likely to happen, but I thought it was an interesting idea.
Husker fan here. Not sure Shanny's hand's off approach would go over well in college. Also, Nebraska found out the hard way college is more about player developement.

i disagree about "a win is a win". at the nfl level it is, but at the college level there is such a huge difference between the top teams and the bottom teams, that a win over a bottom team doesn't really mean anything by itself. we're still the same crappy team that got blown out by csu and toledo. still starting the same crappy qb and the same crappy wide receivers while our talented scholarship receivers waste away on the bench.

I think Buffs fans all over would love Bieniemy. I certainly would.

You shouldn't feel too bad, Hawkins had a lot of people fooled into thinking he was a decent coach. There were actually a few schools interested in him before CU got him. The dude must be one gifted speaker though, cause he sure can't coach.

I'd be more upset with Mike Bohn for giving the bum an extension though, ouch.....

he would have to over-simplify his offense, i am not a big fan of the west coast offense in college, its too complicated for kids to learn in that short period of time.

i thought it was a good idea until my team hired Callahan lol

not saying shanny is Callahan, far from it. but its a similar offense.

also Shanny would pretty much pull in players no matter where he coached, i think.

Not enough boosters? Not enough donations?
    http://www.fanblogs.com/colorado/008210.php

    Found this on the situation.

The athletic department remains in deeply in debt with the majority of an $8 million loan from the campus and the CU system in 2006 still to be paid off. Part of that debt was caused by the last coaching change when Bohn fired Gary Barnett at the end of the 2005 season and hired Hawkins.

CU was heavily criticized for having to pay Barnett approximately $4 million when it fired him. The terms of Barnett's contract, negotiated by former athletic director **** Tharp, required the settlement, and that led to CU trying to limit its obligations in Hawkins' contract.
