Down with the BCS????

agreed. boise state fans clamor for an end to the bcs but really, the bcs is the best thing that ever happened to boise state. now all they have to do is beat one tough team a year and then they can spout off all offseason about how they should have gone to the national championship game and that they are the real national champions.

personally, i don't think there will ever be playoffs in college football unless congress forces it on us (and it is completely shameful that they are actually concerned about this in the first place as if there aren't more important issues they could be dealing with). the bcs system is too profitable for the ncaa.

I would still enjoy a playoff system, because BCS schools, like Florida, deserve a shot to play for a championship even with 1 loss on the season.

Who here thinks the bcs is one gigantic scam made by the bcs conferences to make far more money than the other conferences?

I think it is not fair for teams like TCU and Boise who continually play better than 95% of the bcs teams and still have less of a shot at the title than those teams. Next season, Boise st "might have a shot" at the title due to going undefeated this season and having one loss last season. They've lost 4 games in 4 seasons, 2 of those seasons going undefeated, 1 going undefeated until the bowl game.


And they have a shot...


It's not fair to the seniors on the teams that have to go threw all season working their butts off only to leave without having a shot at the title even though they beat all the teams on their schedule.



My school is fresno state, who is also non-bcs and has been getting whooped by boise (although we are their only competition).


I just hate the bcs system and think we would all benefit from a playoff system. How entertaining would be be to have a march madness type of thing with college ball?

How cool would it be to see cinderella teams like the fresno states of the the country playing for the national title?

Yes I think a playoff would be good. BUT NO, Boise and TCU would STILL NOT DESERVE TO GO!!! Untill they make their confrences a BCS Confrence, or they JOIN a BCS Conf. or they start PLAYING a BCS like schedule, they do NOT, I REPEAT, do NOT, deserve to go!!! No amount of crying, politicing, or whining is gonna change that fact!!!

TCU's schedule might as well be a BCS schedule. The MWC is a difficult conference.

However I do agree, non-BCS schools need to play better teams if they expect any shot at all for the National Championship.

No reason to believe that Boise State would have whipped anyone, but there's no reason to think they couldn't . Right now, they don't even have a chance, and that sucks.

I'm not a boise st fan and think that. I'm a fresno state fan, boise st's rivals, and still think this. I think they deserve a shot. I think we deserve a shot. I think TCU deserves a shot. I think BCS is the best thing to happen to florida and alabama, etc, because now they can hoist the trophy without ever playing the 2nd best team and fighting for it. Boise has the same record as bama this season. Play against eachother and see which of those teams is deserving. Bama is more deserving, yes, but boise is deserving of a shot.

With a playoff system there wouldn't be a bcs or nonbcs conference. Just a conference over another conference. One conference sucks (nfc) and the other is great (afc)... one conference sucks (WAC) and the other is great (SEC).... Playoff system would allow for the sucky conference to have a shot at the title (Giants) over the much better and undefeated team (Patriots) and maybe even beat them.


or look at the fresno st baseball team in 08's college world series in which they went from being ranked near dead last in a huge tourney involving 64 or 32 teams, i forget, and beating the best teams to get a shot at the title, which they got.

boise beat everyone on its schedule and if thats not working hard then what is.

no team wants to play boise right now. Thats why their schedule sucks. If you think playoff systems don't work then look at all the other ncaa sports like basketball, baseball, etc..

BCS = all the top conferences colluding to rule out the rest.
nonBCS = all the other conferences fighting for no purpose.


making 2 nonbcs teams play eachother in a bcs bowl game is like a slap to their faces. Two teams fighting to take down a broken system and want to beat a bcs team in a bcs bowl game to prove they are better, but only end up playing against another nonbcs team. Their seasons just went from possibly denting the system to pointless



you don't measure a teams strength by their fanbase, bankroll, or prestige.
