It wasn't football, but Missouri vs. Kansas in the 1850s was pretty bloody."Stultum est timere quod vitare non potes." ~ Publilius Syrus

I got a tweet earlier from my friend retweeting some sports person saying that the MWC would be more likely than not to invite BSU next month.
*shrugs*
i've heard this for so long i'm only believing it WHEN/IF it happens.sigpic

The MWC would be beyond ridiculous if they got Boise St.
If that happens then drop the Big East and add the MWC as a BCS conference. With Utah, BYU, TCU, BSU, and even AFA that would be a strong conference.LET 'ER BUCK!!!Adopted by: Peanut, Chazoe60, CanDB, RealBronco and JakeNbake

Some teams might be left out of the loop though. WVU and USF could go to the ACC. Like you said they could add Pitt and Cincy to the Big 10.
Then that leaves Louisville, UCONN, Syracuse, and Rutgers left. They could be added to the Big 10 and ACC but then that would make both conferences huge.LET 'ER BUCK!!!Adopted by: Peanut, Chazoe60, CanDB, RealBronco and JakeNbake

Conference size

If a conference has ten, you play nine conference games and three non. That's a good size. The Mountain West could add one and be at the optimum size. Boise State would be the logical choice.
The MAC is the largest with thirteen teams. They and the twelve team conferences (ACC, SEC, C-USA) divide into two divisions with a championship game added at the end.
Before the Mountain West came into existence, they were in the WAC which had sixteen teams at the time. It proved to be too large.
The Big Ten already has eleven teams. Adding two or more would put them into a size of questionable manageability.
I used to think it would be cool for the Big East and Mountain West to systematically play interconference games on a rotating basis every year just to see how they compared. Cincy played SD State and Utah visited Louisville in '07, but that's far from the systematic rotation I envisioned.
The rivalry between fans of the BE & MWC is understandable. There seems to be a tendency for MWC fans to downgrade/underestimate BE football. USF beat Kansas in '08. West Virginia embarrassed Oklahoma in the '07 Fiesta Bowl after Rich Rodriguez left for Michigan. UConn beat Baylor in '08 and beat ND in overtime last year. Louisville beat Kansas State in '08. Even Syracuse beat ND in '08.
It's difficult to envision the Big Ten or ACC with more than twelve teams. Instead of creating bigger conferences and dissolving smaller ones, maybe an additional conference or two would be better.

I don't believe our admission standards have anything to do with it because our gymnastic and wrestling programs are both in the PAC 10. Additionally, the majority of the PAC 10 schools have similar admission standards to BSU.sigpic
