Rode the bench all year as a freshman, started JV as a soph, Varsity as a Junior, Was all County as a senior and he ended up with a scholarship to Oregon St. So anything can happen

As for drills..... If Cb is the position that you wanna play. You gotta work on your back pedal. Keeping your hips down, knees bent. Old school pilon drills work good.

Hit the weight room, cause if this is your first year in football, you want to do something to stand out. Be physical, don't be afraid of a little contact.
Yes, definatley the back pedal work outs. Also, change of direction Maybe some shuttle sprints, 3 cone. Also, get some ankle weights and start running with them and jumping as well. This will give you some "hops" and leg strength. Maybe see if you can get a hold of a parachute type thing and run with it into the wind. Get some speed and quickness. Hope all of this helps man.

Go in and talk to your coach and he'll give you a weight lifting plan, and maybe some drills for agility. Combining the 2 is what will help your speed. Plus it will show him you're committed to working hard, which will help get you on the field.

I did some work at a speed/agility training center for a while, and strength training at a D1 university. If your coach doesn't have any speed drills just PM me and I should be able to help you out!

If you get ankle weights make sure to get the plates not the saggy squishy ones.

I would say first and foremost, try to play whatever position you love first, then worry about the size. If your playing a position you love, the work to get good at it, doesn't seem like work as much

Luckily my 6'3 235 pound 14 y/o son loves playing the O-Line in Middle School, so for him it's a great fit as he goes into high school

dont worry about size. Often the players who mature early are the ones who end up not working as hard and end up not playing as much.

I was never big or good and didn't start until JV, worked hard then eventually became a starter.

Our safety is maybe 10 lbs heavier than you at legit Varsity level but he is one of the hardest workers on the team and he developed into one of our biggest hitters. There's nothing better than a small DB who can back it up with his scrappy play.

If you work hard it will come, given you have some athletic abilities. Good luck man!

The one piece of advice I would give? Be AGGRESSIVE. Football is a game of aggression above and beyond anything else. I have watched a lot of HS kids who had the skills, the tools, and the size to play and yet they didn't go anywhere simply because they shied away from contact, or weren't willing to put their bodies on the line.

Don't be stupid with the aggression, at your weight don't try to take on a 235lb FB up high. You can still make tackles or take up a block or whatever you need to do just by getting low and using leverage. Hopefully as a CB you won't face that scenario very often, if at all.

The one other piece of advice I would give, WRAP UP when you tackle. Arm tackles drive most coaches nuts.

              I wish you luck!!

if u have the heart and desire i think u could play whatever u want (except line lol) i'm 5'10, 212lbs, and play QB, and i used to play OT, OG, DT,DE and OLB (switching in-and-out ofcourse). u just have to want it bad enough. Good luck to u!!
