Why we NEED a Boise St v TCU National Championship game

We already saw this game this year in January for the Fiesta Bowl. I dont think most people would want to see it again for a National Championship.
With Alabama losing yesterday though, this thing is up for grabs. I just hope Ohio State plays the way they are capable of cause one loss could ruin it for them as well.sigpicComment

We need a Boise St v TCU National Championship game so we can have the lowest rated championship game in history?
Just because playoffs work well for the pros doesn't mean it's the best fit for college football. The NFL has 8 equal sized conferences. College has tons more teams, irregular conferences (diff # of schools, only some have champ games, etc) and teams not even in a conference. It's going to be a lot better next year when the Pac10 and Big10 have conference championship games. And though the Big12 wont have a championship game, at least the teams will play everyone else in the conference.IT'S OK - The F just means Freakin' !!Comment

i don't believe you
I would like a playoff where the first round is the four bcs bowl games we have now, next week have two semifinals games, then the NC. Debating who should be the #8 team is a bigtime difference then who should be #2 for a nc chance. It would create alot more revenue, and the "student" part wouldnt be affected since err1 is on W break(even though thats not of importance lately). It wouldnt cheapen the regular season at all either, it would enhance it. If your ranked 6 in mid/late season, your hopes a NC are totally gone, but not with this. You can keep the bcs for seeding purposes and who goes to which rose, sugar, orange, fiesta, so the bcs contract can stay in tack with provisions.
i think you could throw your idea in with other similar ideas of how to have a playoff system while keeping the poll system. i just don't think it would work very well, not with the BCS. i know that Div II has ranked teams etc. maybe if it was done that way, but i still think there would be too much risk of teams getting left out of even that #8 spot. the debate would just simply move to that instead of fighting over #1 and #2.
and the BCS would still find ways to ONLY allow BCS conference members spots in said "playoff" bowls anyway. they'd still weasel in a bogus S.o.S. system too. under a true playoff, S.o.S. wouldn't mean anything so long as the team kept winning.
i still love my reconstructed Division I system. complete with total conference realignments, eliminating three of them (maybe it was two) and creating ten 12 team conferences that each have a championship game and each send their top three teams to a 4 week playoff structure. do away with the whole month off nonsense after the regular season and it's perfect. the actual season wouldn't even need much adjusting. completely takes the BCS and rankings out of the equation. the two teams with the best record overall get first round byes. of course there would have to be some sort of tie-breaker if say 4 teams were undefeated at that point, but you still wouldn't need a ranked system to do that.
also whatever my original conference alignments and affiliations were could obviously be rearranged and tampered with to create the best possible situations for every team, including geography etc.sigpic

the ellipses usually dictates sarcasm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But i do know what would hurt... if you go to the NC and get killed... demolished... orangutanged... banana peeled...
Then I'd hate boise for not representing the whackComment

I think mine would be an easier sell to the public, because all the realignment has turned off somefans who like the history of the current conference layoutsComment

also for that with 8 spots, they could make mwc AQ, and leave one at large(more with superconferences). This would make conference championship games even more profitable. the regular season games would be even more important this way.

my little mock alignment didn't take any big teams out of their original conferences, so i don't think the fanbases would be too upset. it was mostly adding teams here and there... dismantling the WAC, Sunbelt and independents.
but yeah.sigpic

I need this championship game as much as I need aids.. Wow what a worthless national Championship game this would be.
2 teams who have played maybe a combined 2/3 teams who will finish in the top 25 (none in the top 10) getting a shot to play for the title? Give me a break..Comment

but since so many of you have so much faith in that system, if said system placed BSU and TCU in the top 2 spots, you would have to then affirm that the system must have gotten it right again, because after all "power" rankings based on what several computers think can't possibly be wrong. if that were to happen than obviously the computers who have decided said matchup for over a decade would be in agreement that those two teams were the best two teams in the nation...somehow. lol.
sounds absurd right? well that's because it is. i mean the NCAA might as well just create an entirely different sub-division just called BCS so that those 6 conferences can just play each other and feel all high and mighty alone and play for their little bogus championship game that they didn't have to stay alive through some sort of post-season to earn. then all the other conferences can combine and just.....play for no reason at all... like USC is.Last edited by RealBronco; 10-12-2010, 11:10 PM.sigpic

Will they finish in the top 10? Maybe, but highly doubtful. It doesn't matter where teams are when you beat them, it matters where they end up at the end of the season.
And RealBronco, I'm against the system as well, and I've stated that several times. But with the system the way it is, I don't see how Boise deserves to be there.Comment
