  • Meyer says offense will see big changes

I just saw parts of the post game press conference on the internet and heard Meyer give a reporter the statement that the offense will see some big changes this week. Wonder what they'll be either personel or play calling. I hope Brantley stays in at QB. I don't think Burton would be much more than a option QB as a freshman. It would appear reporters are questioning the philosophy of the offense after hearing Brantley tell reporters they still have faith in Addazio and will run whatever he calls. This is looking more and more like the first year Meyer coached when nothing seemed to go right after the year began with high optimism only to end with Leak running for his life in every game and the offense not being able to show much running or passing.

They should just see how Burton looks at QB.

Just goes to show you how important it is to have a QB that fits your system and what your trying to run. I think this is a classic example of a QB in Brantley who just doesn't fit well with this system, he may be a great QB somewhere else.. but not with the offense Florida is currently trying to run.

Yeah exactly. There are 2 ways to fix it. 1-adjust play calling to fit your QB. Or 2- Put in a QB that fits your system.

I feel like one of these has to happen for the Gators offense to start rolling.

The "set-up" seems much the same as '06, passing QB (Brantley) and option QB (Burton). Are the plays that much different in'10? I assumed they would use Mullen's plays (or a variation) with the QB situation so like '06. Maybe it is a question of play calling?

It is Brantley's first year starting compared to Leak's 4th. I thought he threw some nice passes until he got hurt. I don't think Burton is as advanced (as a freshman) as TT was, but fun to watch. The snap problem has to be very concerning to both QB's esp. in their first year of college play. Guess I was expecting a "rebuilding" year, something like '07 and hoping for another '06.

I think Dan Mullen is a genius but that doesn't include losing to MissST!

at this point any change is going to be one for the better. something is astank in the swamp. i like the fire burton brings, but i dont think he can carry the entire team yet. and brantley is too good to be playing so bad. why havnt meyer/addazio adjusted the offense to capitalize on brantleys strengths like it was done for tebow? and the oline is a mess. noone is playing cohesively. its like everyone is just doing their own thing. on special teams too. and that is the one area where meyer has always done wonders. one thing for sure, i have never missed a kicker as bad as i did last sat. do we know how long sturgis is out?
