The New Wac (post 2011)

Now that Boise State is playing their last season in the WAC, and Fresno State and Nevada are in their last 2 seasons... the WAC has already chosen our replacements...


Joining Hawaii, La tech, san jose state, utah state, new mexico state, and idaho* in 2012 are:

University of Denver
Texas-San Antonio
Texas State


I don't see how Texas teams are "western" but whatever, lol...

edit: just found out UD won't play football for the WAC... they don't have a football team i guess (or maybe not at D1 level)

well neither were UTEP, SMU or Tulsa lol. guess that's why they jumped to Conf-USA.

they have 2-3 years to build the program before they are inducted into the WAC... so I'm guessing they will have it ready by then if need be.

next year is there first year playing football, they will be fcs indep., year2 is when they are in the wac. their head coach is larry coker, he coached those maimi team that won the national title and then lost in title game to ohio state the next year

That would be interesting... I don't think it would happen though... I wouldn't want to travel to Hawaii for a non-conference matchup. I just don't think it would be financially the best decision they can make.

what was left in the wac BEFORE all those teams left? boise? it's all relative... you think your conference was awesome because you were in it, but the nation has always thought the wac was a joke

No... I just didn't think the WAC was a joke because fresno, nevada, and obviously boise were in it.

Fresno moreso than nevada, but lately nevada has been stepping it up.

I also don't give a crap what the nation thinks.

Must be nice to root for a bcs school, where you actually have a shot...

all the CSU's in cali are cal states, but i guess we want to separate ourselves from them... I highly doubt it happens, but its just interesting...

i have never ever once thought the WAC was awesome. it is merely hindering the potential Boise State has.

granted at the same time being in Division I has given us opportunities, but i believe we would have made it to the same point in the journey regardless of what conference we were in. in fact if we'd been invited straight into a BCS conference we'd probably already have racked up more than 2 BCS Bowl wins and possibly a NC. (yes i am being very arrogant about it...but considering how awesome BSU is, i'm allowed to be).

also it's rather amusing to know that the WAC is a tougher conference this season than the Big East. Everyone knows THAT conference is a joke.
