they have to win ten games first lol. when's the last time that happened?
not entirely true. if TCU wasn't ranked ahead of us right now, BSU would still get the at-large bid because we're in the top 12. that's why analysts were saying IF TCU had lost to NM then Boise would still have had a shot at a BCS Bowl.
or if somehow Auburn or Oregon lose this weekend and TCU gets into the championship game, we still have a shot.

oh also: it's Brotzman. and he didn't do anything wrong. i REALLY wish people would get off his back for missing the kicks. the TEAM played a terrible game. that is why he was in the position to attempt winning the game at the end, rather than having the TEAM create a controlling lead. as Coach Pete said: "he was kicking to win the game, not lose it" and he went on to talk about how there were several other key plays that were missed by other players that contributed to the loss.
i'm getting sick and tired of people bashing on a kicker who is actually one of the most accurate there is right now.
mostly true. but most of that has to do with what you say below, where they fear they could get beat by a "lesser" team and it doesn't benefit them.
to that i say bunk. Boise State is perennially ranked so it wouldn't hurt their S.o.S. to play Boise State. it would only add another ranked opponent to their schedule. even if they lost, they'd still be losing to a ranked opponent. i.e. VT not even falling out of the Top 25 and being able to crawl back up pretty high afterward (didn't help they lost to a 1aa team a week later but).
Big schools have nothing to gain and all to lose. Teams that win in boise still have to face their tough confrence schedule, but if they lose its almost a guarantee they have to run the table in their confrence which is hard to do. Especially in the sec and big 12. They will let boise come to their house but no further. They want easy schedules outside the confrence to get them guaranteed wins, not loses to make their season harder. Big schools confrence schedules make their schedules strong enough that they dont need good out of confrence schedules to get recgonized. a lot of big confence schools schedule 1aa teams.
as for the stinginess of not wanting to travel. not true. we are going to Georgia next year, traveled all the way to Maryland to play VT and went to Oregon last year.
i believe we're getting a 1:1 series with Georgia though, but i don't see anything wrong with wanting a 1:1 series with a team. because of where Boise State is in their development, where they have been ranked often, this can't possibly be bad for a BCS team to do.
i just think they're afraid of losing. boohoo. wanting a series out of a matchup isn't stingy or greedy; it just makes sense.
as for the topic at hand:
at first i was a bit miffed by this, but now... i think this is excellent for Boise State.
with Utah and TCU out of the way, BSU stands to--if they go undefeated--nab up the non-AQ at-large berth every single time. who's left in non-AQ conferences that could challenge Boise for the at-large bid? Houston? BYU? maybe Nevada or Fresno, but if BSU is undefeated in-conference, that's a non issue.
(heck, even if they don't go undefeated, like this season but they're still ranked in the top 12, there won't be another non-BCS school [more than likely] ahead of them. if TCU wasn't ranked right now Boise State would still have a shot at the at-large spot even with one loss).
once 2012 rolls around Boise is looking like they're set up pretty nice to be playing for a BCS Bowl every season. it's nearly an automatic bowl bid.
heck, even if it wasn't Boise and it was Nevada, Hawaii or Fresno... basically the winner of the MWC is IN a BCS Bowl. i really don't see BYU getting any sort of Notre Dame type deal out of the independence.Last edited by RealBronco; 11-30-2010, 02:14 AM.Leave a comment:

nobody wants to play them because they will get beat or they are too stingy to swap games 1:1 (home/away) but rather want either no games @ boise or 2:1...
fresno state on the other hand doesn't mind playing away games...
Since the formation of the BCS system, this will mark just the ninth time a team from an AQ-BCS conference has played at Bulldog Stadium. During that time, Fresno State has faced 34 AQ opponents on the road or at neutral sites.
34 road games and 9 home games... yeah, thats totally fair...
also factor in that USC chickened out after we almost beat them when they were #1...Leave a comment:

Why doesn't Boise State just go independent? Schedule a few good teams(Texas, Florida, Ala, Auburn, Nebraska,) a 2-3 of those and then get some decent teams for the rest of the schedule so they can have a legit run at the BCS next year?
btw screw you BrontzmanLeave a comment:

I think this is just funny. The MWC was starting to get respect as a strong conference, then all of a sudden Boise State joins and all of the good teams in the MWC start leaving. Utah goes to Pac, BYU goes independent, TCU goes to the Big East. Once again, Boise State will be the only decent team in a crap conference, funny how that turned outLeave a comment:

yes, its not that much of an improvement... but it IS an improvement...
it's not like boise didn't know these teams were leaving...Leave a comment:
