Ok.. so I've been to a lot of sites, and all I see are people bashing the guy from left and right. It's getting to the point where I feel bad for him.

Everyone acts like he lost us the game which he didn't. If Boise as a TEAM played better, there wouldn't have been any need to put Brotzman in a situation to make a game winning field goal. Should Brotzman had made those FGs? Yes he should've, but blaming the whole loss on him is crazy.

Go on a site like Facebook or Twitter, there's hundreds of groups just insulting him for no apparent reason, the most embarrassing part is that most of them are Boise fans. Then there are fans of other teams like Oregon or TCU who just want to rub it in, so they make their 'Thank you Brotzman' pages.

It's really sickening to be honest. Recent reports says he's even been getting threats from other people.

        See, I disagree.

He is a kicker, his job is to kick a football.

If he can't do it successfully when it matters, why should be not get bashed? :confused"

If Pettis had dropped two passes wide open in the end zone he would be under
        the same kind of ridicule.
If Titus had dropped two wide open passes in the end zone he would be too.
If Moore had missed two wide open passes to guys in the end zone he would also
        be under the same criticism.

You're a kicker, make the kicks. I don't hate the guy, nor do I understand people
who do, but he should be held responsible for a good portion of the loss.

Again, Boise as a TEAM played horrible. The defense didn't look right at all out there, and with that being the case, you wouldn't be able to blame Titus, Pettis, or Moore without pointing at the defense first. There were about 5 plays where Kaepernick should've been sacked for a loss of 7+, but he managed to break free and make a play.

You can't always count on the kicker to bail your offense or even your defense out. Had the defense did their part, the game wouldn't have to be decided with a FG by Brotzman. Yes he should've made it, but going back to my other points, there's no I in football, it's a team sport.

You're right Gridiron. He deserves criticism for missing a 26 yard FG from the middle of the field.

However, what Amari is referring to is the backlash in the local community. There's only about 500,000 people in the Boise metro area. Kyle grew up here and has probably been a fan of the Broncos since he was a little kid. I understand why he melted under the pressure. What some people here don't want to realize is Kyle is more vested than 99 percent of the fan base.

Overall, there's been more support than negativity. Its just sad to see people turn on a member of our own community.

The defense got gassed because the offense couldn't sustain a drive.

it's completely uncalled for. i'm so upset about it. the TEAM lost the game, not Brotzman.

Coach Pete said a lot of things that make sense. he said that there were several plays by several players that should be criticized as well, and the preperation wasn't there. he said he himself was also to blame. of Brotzman he said "that's a kick that he makes 99 out of 100 times" it could and does happen to the best of players all the time. it's happened to Elam before (whom by the way Brotzman has passed for all time point leader in the WAC).

you mentioned Pettis and Young and Moore, well all of your scenarios occured during the Nevada game. Pettis was dropping passes he should and does always catch. our offensive line faultered where normally Moore has a day and a half to throw. Young was dropping passes as well up until the miraculous catch at the end.

the only Bronco that had a good game against Nevada was Martin. Moore did well, but not his best.

our defense was abismal. they did not look like the defense that has been shutting down high powered offenses all season. like Amari said, Kaepernick should never have gotten out of the backfield on most of those occasions. and their receiver was all over Johnson, who normally shuts down his side.

another thing Coach Pete said: "He was kicking to win the game, not to lose it"

sure it goes both ways... had he made it everyone would be praising him or if Young had caught the ball and jogged into the endzone he'd be a hero along with Moore but no matter how you look at it... Brotzman should never have been in that position. especially based on how Boise has played this season. a team that by the 4th quarter has been up by 3 or 4 TD against all but 2 opponents this season shouldn't have been relying on a last second FG.

This is just Boise State getting used to the reality of playing more than one good team in a year.

Mathematically, there are going to be some games that don't go well.

SEC teams have to face 6 or 7 games where that kind of day will get you beat, no matter who you are.

Football is rough. Missed kicks are part of it -- FSU might have three more championships if not for "wide rights" against Miami.

People who take their extreme anger/disappontment out on a college kid who does not get paid needs to stop watching sports because it obviously isn't good for them. The guy feels bad enough he let the team and fans down, thre is absolutely no need to pile on this kid. They could be damaging his outlook on his own life. Jesus, it's just college football.
