Muschamp ditches Horns; Takes dream job at UF

Muschamp, who just finished his third season at Texas, where he was the head-coach-in-waiting to succeed Mack Brown, replaces Urban Meyer at Florida.
The sources said Muschamp was the only person Florida interviewed.
Muschamp leaves one of the nation's premier programs for another. Between them, Texas and Florida have won three national championships since 2005.
But both teams fell on hard times this year. The Gators were 7-5 and Texas fell to 5-7 in Brown's first losing season with the Longhorns.
Meyer resigned Wednesday, citing family reasons. Meyer will coach the Gators in the Jan. 1 Outback Bowl against Penn State in Tampa.
The 46-year-old Meyer led the Gators to two national titles but briefly resigned last December, citing health concerns. He had been hospitalized with chest pains after the Gators lost to Alabama in last season's Southeastern Conference championship game.
Muschamp was one of top-earning assistants in the country with a $900,000 annual salary. His previous stints as an assistant coach include LSU and Auburn and the Miami Dolphins in the NFL.

Thats a big loss for Texas but the Horns will most certainly manage imo and Muschamp was definitely deserving of a HC position in top tier program and in one he certainly has big shoes to fill ..

Wow, that explains a lot about Harsin from Boise State. There were rumors that Harsin would possibly accepting the Longhorn's OC job when Boise's bowl game was over.

I guess the rumor makes sense because apparently Texas already knew they were losing their OC.

although i was going to the stadium to buy tickets last week and as i went and parked, the whole team was walking through the parking lot and going to the practice field... so I told them good luck against N. Illinois ... I felt like tackling one of them and saying "Can I join the team??" lol..


also, hawaii accepted the MWC invite

Utah State might very well join too. They've never been very good, but there new head coach is pretty good and has the program headed in the right direction. It was rumored they didn't originally join because they believed BYU was going to join the WAC.

Muschamp is the DC, not the OC.

Our OC, Greg Davis, resigned at the end of the season.

I'd like to see a good OC come over.

The rumors about Harsin are actually very serious. They apparently offered him a gaurantee of 3 million over 4 years, or something to that effect. He won't officially reply until after Boise's bowl game.

There is an outside chance he'll say no because he turned down a pretty big SEC school last year. I don't remember which one it was.

yes they will, with the pool of recruits they have, you could pretty much put any decent coaches in there and they will be a good team.

its actually amazing to me that they have not won more championships than they have to be honest.
