  • Which sport in College sports......

    Deserves some light?
By this I mean, out of all college sports, that don't get TV air time, don't get talked about on boards, and ESPN.

IMO the sport that deserves the light is college hockey.
It's fun and great to watch, it's easy to understand(if you find hockey hard).
Another sport is college baseball, but not nearly as much as hockey, baseball gets TV air time, and during the season ESPN talks about it. I would have loved to had watched the Michigan vs Michigsn state game in the Big house on ESPN U or ESPN3.

So what college sport would you choose?

Women's volleyball. It's pretty good, and I think there is virtually no men's volleyball anymore, so it's a chance to see a sport played in just about the only regular league that it's played in.

Lacrosse gets air time on ESPN2, ESPN3,ESPNU, and FSN.
It also has video games, so I wouldn't consider it being a sport that deserves light.

hockey is a good one, so is baseball. but being an MMA fan i would like to see college wrestling more so i can see possible future MMA superstars in the making.

I agree with wrestling, baseball should be no where near this list of sports. ESPN2 shows games every season.

Wrestling, I've seen a few times on FSN, but not allot nor do they talk about it on ESPN. Speaking of MMA, ESPN should give them a better time slot. 1am on Saturdays is not enough.

Women's volleyball and softball. Softball is shown quite a bit at the end of the season, but not much until the playoffs start.

Volleyball gets no playtime. It's a shame.

You haven't lived until you watch Penn State vs. Minnesota women's volleyball on BigTen network.

I will not cheat on my Michigan Wolverine women teams.
I brought Florida softball, because ESPN show them allot, and those women are smoking compared to the normal teams they show. None of which hold a candle to team USA softball.

I love college hockey. I get to go to at least 2 Wisconsin Badger games a year, and when I used to live in the U.P. of Michigan, I went to almost every home game for the Northern Michigan University Wildcats. College hockey fans are some of the most loyal and rowdy fans there are.

On a side note, there may be more hockey available when Penn State joins division 1 hockey in the next few years. Rumor has it that the Big Ten is looking to have it's own conference in hockey. Currently only half of the schools field teams, but a clause in the Big Ten Network contract states that if half the schools participate in a particular sport, they need to play in a so called Big Ten Conference. It's been rumored that the network may try to persuade both Illinois and Indiana to move their club teams up to a division 1 level to have a bigger conference.

Get this, the Michigan Wolverines Hockey team got the world record 113,411 people in the stands as they beat Michigan St. 5-0 in the Big House, the game was shown on Big Ten network, but ESPN never brought it up, no highlight no nothing.

I think it was #1 on the top plays of the week. That's about it though.
