  • Urban Meyer Is A Fraud!!

I seriously hope he does not become our next Head Coach.

Let's look at this logically, he was HC at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.... all of them had very potent and efficient offensive numbers and Dan Mullen was his #2 guy at each of these schools.
However as soon as Mullen leaves to take the HC job at Miss. State.... Florida's offensive is an utter joke.... the team finish 7-5 and then he quits as Head Coach of the Gators???

He is about as over rated as you can get in terms of a ''successful Head Coach'' and i can only hope that the rumours are not true and he is not headed to us!

Not really any rumours like that. He's not gonna coach anywhere.
    Where is this season going?

        Duuuuude.....

Yeah, he might not be the best coach in the world, but to call him a fraud is a bit harsh. Perhaps that word isn't as 'strong' as it is over here in the UK?!

Or maybe he went 7-5 cause Tebow left and he was dealing with a struggling freshman QB?

And he left because of health issues, not because he's a fraud.

um last I checked, football was a team sport, from the players to the coaching, to the athletic departments

a head coach doesn't do it all, his own coaches have to buy into what he's selling, takes the entire staff.

Not at all, he's had successful seasons every year as a HC, with Dan Mullen as his #2 guy.... as soon as he leaves.... the team crumbles and is below average!!!
You say it's because Tebow graduated.... rubbish! He didn't have Tebow all those other years as a HC at Florida as well as Bowling Green and Utah! He can't run his own offense, never has and never will, he is over rated and without Dan Mullen he is nothing... hence why he walked away! Health related.... give me a break if there was anything wrong with his health like there supposedly was the previous year when he quit... then came back... he would have stayed away then!

I thought I was in the Broncos General Discusion Forum.

In all seriousness though Urban Meyer is not coming to be the Broncos head coach I never have heard that rumor. I don't know anything about him as a coach but he has made it clear he is leaving to better his health and spend time with his family.

He was 31 when Urban hired him as QB coach at Bowling Green. Good for Urban, for hiring and training a good assistant. But you surely don't think Mullen came out of the womb knowing Urban's offense, do you?

It's considered a good thing when a coach spawns a next generation of successful assistants.

But by the way, most people do think Mullen was a big reason for the Gator's success.

Here's why your argument holds no water:

Meyer's first year without Mullen the Gators went 13-1 and finished #4 in the nation. Try again

                        1) there are like 20 rumored coaches coming to Denver. Everyone who's ever won a ring has been "rumored" by someone.

                        2) The offensive coordinator doesn't win games and championships for ANY team. You still have two parts of a team that need to do well: defense and special teams. So what you're saying makes no sense at all.

I heard Pat Bowlen is going to let the fans coach by committee.

To me, the "fraud" is all those brilliant people who said that Florida would be better without Tebow because they would have a "real quarterback".

This next statement defies all logic.

But here it is: Tim Tebow, arguably the greatest college football player ever, is gone, and Florida’s offense will be better off because of it.

Tebow needed former UF wide receiver Percy Harvin, who was named The Associated Press 2009 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, in order to succeed and hide his deficiencies in the passing game.

So, in the spring when Deonte Thompson was quoted as referring to Brantley as a “real quarterback,” maybe, just maybe, he knew what he was talking about.

John Brantley's 2010 season will be most remembered for ...

mlmintampa: Having a better passing season than any of Tim Tebow's. Brantley can complete 70 percent of his passes and could get 3300 yards if they let him open it up. The hard part will be breaking Tebow's mark of 32 passing touchdowns, set during his Heisman season. UF's running game will take a lot of stress off Brantley. But if he can show he can pitch it around, the Gators will throw a lot late in the season. Also, Florida's defense is in rebuilding mode (new MLB, new CB, new DEs). The Gators will need Brantley to throw and that will rack up the numbers.

I can remember Gator fans extremely optimistic about the transition from Tim Tebow to John Brantley as the leader of the Florida Gator offense. Fans thought Brantley would have a big, big year putting up large numbers. Many speculated that Brantley could enter his 2011 senior season as a Heisman candidate after having a great 2010. Boy, were the fans wrong.

All these people, all these thousands of people, had it wrong.

Everybody made the pilgrimage to Gainesville to see Tim Tebow throw the football.

But if they really wanted to see an NFL quarterback prospect, they should have gone to the University of Florida's first football practice Wednesday afternoon instead of the University of Florida's Pro Day Wednesday morning. They would have watched new UF quarterback John Brantley's natural and nearly perfect throwing motion instead of the much-criticized delivery put on display by UF's legend emeritus.
Gators WR Deonte Thompson began the process today of endearing himself to the UF fans who love Tim Tebow first and forever.

WR Deonte Thompson on diff b/t Tebow and Brantley: "With Brantley, everything with rhythm, with time. You know, a real quarterback."
Those taking a more objective view would note that Thompson was the third read, so he wouldn't get thrown to, despite the presence of his right hand in the air and spinning around. Also that Thompson is just pointing out what everyone else has; John Brantley's ball will make sorority girls swoon and bloggers give him nicknames. (I like Johnny 'Guitar' Brantley after the blues man and Pearl Jam song.)

Junior Deonte Thompson knows his first two years in the Florida offense haven’t lived up to his promise as one of the country’s top prep receivers out of Belle Glade.

So excuse Thompson’s optimism, especially with a new pass-happy quarterback.

“Lot of things didn’t go the way as planned,” Thompson said. “Things are going to get better here in the future. Any receiver would be happy. You have a guy like (John) Brantley throwing the ball, spreading it around to everybody.”

Yes, a fair amount of curiosity surrounds the multi-talented Tebow this year, and deservedly so. However, if Brantley plays within himself and doesn't try to be someone that he is not (namely Tebow), there should be a mad rush by NFL franchises, barring injury, to make Brantley their next franchise quarterback.

In this writer's humble opinion (who wishes to wrap things up before his meatloaf gets cold), Brantley should easily be the higher regarded NFL prospect
Tim Tebow has accumulated more than his fair share of detractors over the last three months, and figures to accumulate even more in the weeks leading up to the NFL draft.  From draft analysts to general members of the media to fans, there seem to be individuals around every corner looking to take a shot

People talk about Tebow as being one of the greatest college QB’s ever?! Does anyone talk about Ronnie Brown as being the best NFL QB ever? No. And he throws a better spiral. He’s the best Wildcat QB in the NFL. Tebow was the best fullback to play a wild cat / 11 yard pass QB at the college level under a Gimmicky offense that doesn’t translate to the Pro’s.
