  • Big Ten Bowl Games

Ouch. Today was rough for the Big Ten.

I mean i expected some of the losses. Like NW without Persa and MSU vs Alabama.

    Michigan played like hell.

    Penn State blew it.

Wisconsin just got out played. No doubt about it.

Maybe the Big Ten is over rated, maybe not. All I know is today was ugly for them.

I made my case for the Big Ten being overrated in the other thread. Today only adds truth to my point, especially if OSU loses to Arkansas. I have OSU beating Arkansas, but if they lose....

Michigan is my team, and yet I waned them to lose.
Why? Because it gets our coach fired, Rich Rod was already on thin ice, now he is pretty much gone. Now everyone is wait to see how long will it be before Michigan announce Jim Harbaugh as the new coach.

Adam Schefter said today on twitter, that the niners better act fast, "It's up to the NFL to prevent Jim Harbaugh from going there"

I don't think a team will jump at Jim fast enough, SF if going GM before HC, which might cost them Harbaugh.

As for what Amari said, doesn't matter, I don't think it's over or underrated.
I and others think the Big Ten is just mediocre.

Honestly, the Big 10 is not "overrated" at all down south -- it's considered a very weak conference. If anything, it is overrated by the East Coast press, but the SEC gets all the estimation in everybody's eyes where I live.

Maybe Ohio State can regain some of it against Arkansas.

Exactly, in the Big Ten state( I from Michigan). We know that people think of it as weak, I can it mediocre and the once great big ten.

It's got a lot of cool, name brand teams with great histories.

But we believe there's something in the water down here for growing defensive linemen and an abundance of speed on both sides of the ball. Every time a good SEC team plays a good Big Ten team, it looks like the Big Ten team can't block them.

I agree, but that can be fix, we the big ten would scout southern boys, but no the ten likes it mid-west and Cali boys. For example, Michigan scouts allot of it's players from southern Cali and Ohio.

                When the Mountain West ...

... gets some BCS level teams, they leave: Utah to the PAC 10, TCU to the Big East, BYU goes independent.

Now the MWC gets the top four WAC teams and starts over ... kinda.

The Big Ten was a joke today.

If Notre Dame ever decides to join a football conference, they should definitely join the Big Ten which is demonstrably weaker than the Big East which gets TCU in 2012.

We'll see how Ohio State's distractions affect them in the Sugar Bowl.

Some used to think badly of the Big East, but maybe the weakest BCS conference is the Big Ten.

Joining the Big East will boost TCU the same as it did for Cincinnatti when they became the second BCS team in Ohio.

Gary Patterson has come a long way since he was DC at UNM. Way to go, Gary! TCU outcoached and outplayed the Badgers today.

The Big Ten was horrible on the first, but the two best teams in the Big East just got beat by a combined score of 71-27 against inferior opposition to that of the Big Ten. West Virginia got trounced by North Carolina State. It's not like they were playing Alabama or TCU. I would hold off on that one. TCU proved, to me at least, that they are a great football team. They DO deserve a shot at the national championship. If Ohio State gets killed like UConn and WV did, you may have a point.

Everyone is very weak compared to the SEC. You are right though, there are those who like to think that the Big Ten is somehow equal to the SEC. I don't know if there are performance enhancers in the water down south, but southern states do seem to produce better athletes on average.

... the comparison is difficult since West Virginia lost to NC State and UConn to Oklahoma. Are you saying those two are inferior to the Big Ten?

Louisville did beat Southern Mississippi, Syracuse beat K-State and South Florida defeated Clemson.

We'll just need to see how Ohio State and Pitt do to complete the bowl comparison.

Now that TCU is going to join a BCS Conference, their recruiting may improve. In the event they go undefeated in the Big East, what would that say about the Mountain West from which they came?
