You're acting like they aren't punishing other schools... You guys got off easy compared to other schools. Nobody is against boise... not even the BCS... but it is set up so teams LIKE boise don't get far.

    EVERYONES AGAINST US!!! lol...

it's not the end of the world.
No, I never said it was us against the world. You're doing a bit of generalizing there. I'm saying the rules that were broken were petty. That's all I'm saying. Jeez you guys are over the top.

Yeah but although petty, still against the rules.

The fresno state thing wasn't... it wasn't a NCAA Violation.

I'm just trying to show that you aren't being unfairly judged as you seem to think you are.

          it's all about rules

if you're presented with rules and break them, then the rule breaker(s) are the only ones to blame

I agree with that dude. For as long as we are governed by the NCAA we should abide by their rules, and if we break them we have to suffer the consequences. There's no debate there in my mind.

The point I'm trying to make is that the NCAA's ability to effectively govern sports is archaic. Essentially the system is broken, and that's why we're going to see super conferences in the future tell the NCAA to go pack sand.

However, are you aware of what the football violations were? I honestly wouldn't have known it was a violation.

Upperclassmen would allow incoming freshmen to stay with them during the summer so they could participate in the summer football program. They would also give them rides to practice and help them out with meals. That's where the "illegal benefits for housing, transportation, and meals" came from.

I thought it was petty myself. The unfortunate thing is people are not really familiar with the story and are just assuming the majority of the trouble was the football program. This whole thing stemmed from improper activity by the tennis program and a disgrungled assistant tennis coach. She was unhappy with they way she was being treated by the athletic department so she started going after the football team too.
The track team was doing horrible things as well as the tennis team.

it was the Assistant Track Coach actually. She was the disgruntled ex-employee. i know this because she used to be a teacher/track coach at the high school i went to.

she tried telling the university that her boss (the head coach of the track team) and the tennis coaching staff were up to no good basically and the university ignored her.

she got demoted before long and eventually fired, which is when she decided to sue the university for wrongful termination (which is bs because she got demoted because the track team sucks).

anyway, she is the one that alerted the NCAA that the track and tennis teams were violating policies. it was found out later that the football team was not so innocent either.

although in my personal opinion, letting some high school kid sleep on the floor in your dorm room or apartment, and buying him a cheeseburger at Table Rock or McDonalds is a far cry from enticing said student with thousands of dollars, or free vehicles or a free house (Reggie Bush).

apparently to the NCAA it's the same thing (which is why the NCAA and some of it's rules are ridiculous.

but since they are the current rules i guess we will serve our sentence. The football team really didn't get hit with much to be honest. 3 scholarships a year is nothing really. oh and like 3 fewer practices a year. oh well. it's also only a 3 year probation anyway so.
