    Good luck, that's awesome.

Just a little advice from me, a high school JV Wrs coach, dont go crazy with the whole lifting thing. Obviously in moderation getting stronger is a good thing, but if he's already 165, let him grow! A tall QB is much more in a position destined for success than a crazy strong one!

Take it however you would like, that's just my two cents as a friend who's seen the whole transition from kid to high school football player many times before. Like I said though, good luck, he should have some fun years ahead if he works hard!

Thanks for the input. He actually just started, and I don't let him use much weight. 165 is actually his natural weight, and he is very lean. Most of his weight is in his lower half, from all the years of running (He's played football for 6 years now and played a few years of soccer before that).

I don't let him lift heavy weights. I'm teaching him to use slow controlled movements with lighter weights. I don't want him tearing up his joints like I did. My shoulder hasn't been the same since high school. I stress flexibility as much as I do strength. He actually lifts on his own these days. He's pretty motivated on his own. I just have to make sure he doesn't use too much weight.

Great idea. I have a few buddies that went from weight lifting to power lifting and their joints are all messed up as we get older. Flexibility along with the strenght is far more important.

D... I have been busy, not ignoring this and I just got around to watching it.

I have to say, I wasn't that impressed after watching. Then I realized I wasn't watching a senior in HS, but an 8th grader. My opinion changed to say the least.

Keep him working hard to continually improve, and don't let him become content despite the fact he's clearly the most talented kid on the team. I don't know how many times I've seen kids who are good/great when they are in jr high, only to have the rest of the kids around them catch up by the time they're a senior, and then end up riding the pine for some rinky dink college.

Obviously he sure looks like he's got talent, but as Tim Tebow says, "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."

              lol

aside from the obvious domination on the ground, he's got a pretty legit arm!

Wish you guys the best of luck. And like i said, fresno state please.

Thanks Sam. He does have a really strong arm. He can already throw a ball over 50 yards. He's been working on accuracy too. Hopefully he'll have the opportunity to throw more in HS.

Well, if he starts getting offers that's a school that would be considered because it would be on the west coast. NW schools would be top priority (UW, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, Utah, Boise State). That's all speculation at this point, but if he continues to grow it's a possibility.

They had their first day of spring camp today for incoming freshmen. My boy had the fastest 40 times there with a 4.78 and 4.8. They were running on the astro turf with shorts, helmets, and cleats.

A private company is putting on a mini combine at Meridian High School this morning. If he is a top finisher his stats and info will be posted on their website. I'll probably post it here if he's a top finisher in anything in his age group.

The roster came out a few days ago and he was selected to be one of the two QB's for the Treasure Valley team. He wasn't sure if he was going to get to play QB in the game because we did such a bad job of putting together tape for him. There was a chance he was going to play WR or DE instead.

He's pretty excited. The game is June 30th at 4:00MST.
