Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

My son got invited to an all state football all star game
Yes, we are excited. I'm excited about the prospects of the whole day. It will be a fun road trip. Twin Falls is about a 90 minute drive up I85. Many people don't know this, but Shoshone Falls are there. They are referred to as the Niagra Falls of the west, and IMO, are more aesthetically pleasing.

Wow. Stunning. And count me amongst one of those who had never heard of them.
Consider your of-topic stray an educational one
The roster came out a few days ago and he was selected to be one of the two QB's for the Treasure Valley team. He wasn't sure if he was going to get to play QB in the game because we did such a bad job of putting together tape for him. There was a chance he was going to play WR or DE instead.
He's pretty excited. The game is June 30th at 4:00MST.
It's finally here!
I'm sure he'll do great.
Have fun, Dan!!

We're very excited, we're going to leave here in a few hours to go see Shoshone Falls before we head to the football field. He's been at the All-Star camp for 4 days and has been having a blast.

Well, the Treasure Valley was outmanned in this game. For some reason the Boise school district wasn't represented very well. The only big schools from the Treasure Valley represented were from the Meridian School District. The Idaho team had a much bigger talent pool for this game. In the end they lost 35-6.
My son had a few nice throws (he alternated drives with the other QB), but he was almost always throwing on the run because of the constant pressure. He only throw two deep balls and got hit as he was throwing both times. He did score the teams only TD on a 1 yard bootleg. He also had a nice 11 yard and six yard sweep. I'll put up the highlight when I put it together.

I hope it was enough to show his talent. Sometimes, people can tell a lot when someone is under pressure. Good experience for him, though.
Looking forward to the highlights.

He quit football. It was a difficult decision, but we believe it was the right one. He told us that he didn't love playing football, and I'm not going to make him play it if he doesn't love it. I told him just because he's good at it we're not going to make him play.
I think the concussion he suffered this last summer was sort of what did it. He told me he doesn't want to play a game that will put his long term health at risk.
It was still difficult to see him quit even though we believe it was the right decision. He has so much potential. He has grown even more. He'll be 15 in a couple of weeks, and he's already 6'1" 170.
Neverthless, I don't miss the risk he took when he played.

Being a high school coach I can understand. Although we do try to instill the don't give up on something cause it's hard or at times very tough, if his heart and mind aren't into it, it's not a good thing for him to be out there. For one, his own safety. And two, his team and teammates.
The halfway in attitude spreads, and no fault to your son. Kids notice that stuff and the first sign of trouble and they all start walking around with that attitude. Plus he may change his mind. He's really young still.
I remember after a sports physical my Junior year the Dr told me I had a slight sports hernia but it was nothing to worry about yet. I literally passed out on the table. The thought that I may have permanently damaged my body and would need surgery when I got older scared me sooo much.
Well, good for your son to have the courage to know and communicate that he wasn't interested in football anymore. That's hard.
