  • My son got invited to an all state football all star game

The game is in the last week of June. I didn't even know that games like that existed in Idaho for 8th graders, but they do. It's actually not a state sponsored event. It's put on by this guy who makes a living getting kids ready for college sports.

Anyway, my kid is either going to play WR or QB for the Treasure Valley team.

Here's a few videos I put together of him. I didn't really have a lot of highlights of him because he didn't play a full game at QB until the 3rd game of the season, but for the last four games he had a total of 12 TD's, 8 rushing, and 4 passing.

He's 6'0" 165, runs like a gazelle, and has a really big arm for a 14 year old kid. He can already fling it 50 yards.

Anyway, I apologize for the poor quality of the videos. There was only one game I shot from the bleachers, and I was kind of learning how to use the camera as the season went on.

compilation of 4 games Meridian Middle School vs Lowell Scott, Lake Hazel, Eagle, and Lewis and Clark

I don't think the quality is that bad...

But congrats to your son! CSU could use a good QB by then.

Congrats man. You have to be very proud of him. It will be interesting to see what he can do at the next level or in college with an improved offensive line that is more organized and knows what they are doing. That blocking was atrocious on pretty much every play. It seemed like he was having to work his tail off to make something out of nothing on every play.

Hopefully you can keep this thread going and update often as he progresses. It would be awesome if he becomes a star and we can all say we saw vids of him since 8th grade.

              That's awesome!

A scrambling QB with a good arm. :thumb:

I'm glad you forgot to edit the sound.

I'm also glad that you don't have a potty mouth on the videos.

                  Great vids.

Blocking at that level is always pretty spotty, and he made good out of most of it. He's got the makins!

Awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing, Adubs. (And, yes I did miss this when you posted it so thanks for the heads up).

I see a future and I'm sure you're very proud. There were several moments where you could tell that he had the best football instincts on the field. Nice throws too. I noticed some perfectly placed balls that were either dropped or where the receiver pulled up on his route causing the incompletion. He's also a very instinctive runner; with good vision and cutting ability.

Can't wait to see how he progresses through HS. Keep us posted!

I will most certainly keep this thread updated. Hopefully there will be more highlights next year. This set was from only four games. I also missed two TD passes because I was learning how to use the camera. I didn't realize what a TD machine he was until I started to make these highlights. He had 8 rushing TD's and 4 passing TD's in the last four games. That's 3 TD's a games.

I most certainly am a proud papa. :thumb:
