The appropriate actions and taking responsibility took place off the field and in the court room as was the appropriate way to handle it.

I'm sorry but I fail to see how a sex scandal has anything to do with the games that were played on the football field? Did it provide some sort of unfair advantage? Absolutely not.

Did it provide an unfair advantage in recruiting? absolutely not.

The incident that happened and the games played on the field are two completely separate things. So to strip wins that happened just makes 0 sense at all.

As 100% Bronocholic said Sandusky is in jail, Joe Pa is dead and several other punishments have been handed out to the family as appropriate.

Taking wins away is just the NCAA stepping over their boundaries and doesn't change what we all know actually happened. Which was Joe Pa won those 124 games fair and square. And I think that's why the NCAA finally decided to restore them because the know it was inappropriate.

    The NCAA didn't have jurisdiction.

It was a matter for the civil courts to handle once the judicial system did what it did.

The NCAA a was wrong for doing what it did.

There never should have been any sanctions.

Too bad Penn State had to deal with all the stuff that's too late to give back.

SMU had more scholarships taken from them during the same time frame. Even the fine, from what I heard, is something Penn State could make back. In my opinion, the only way to prevent current players from suffering on the Penn State team is to eliminate the team altogether.

This isn't about Joe Paterno now, it's about the knee jerk reaction that the NCAA made. They didn't do everything correctly, just like the NFL hasn't done well with Rice and Peterson abuse situations.

Will we see the Patriots have to give up wins because Aaron Hernandez (allegedly) murdered someone?

Once again, Paterno reported it. Could he have done more? Used his power? Yes. There are pieces none of us will ever know. The police were involved.

Everyone knee jerked. The NCAA and Penn State.

Paterno's name was taking off the Big Ten Championship, off the day care at Nike's World Headquarters, the statue is down outside the stadium, his wife had her university privileges taken away for free access, the name is a mess, it's done.

Do you take what the young men did in games away from them? No. Let the wins stay. The money will now stay in the area and state to be used to help abuse victims vs the NCAA taking the $60 million and using around as they saw fit when the money was paid for by PA.

Joe Paterno is dead. Sandusky is behind bars, and the victims have been able to receive compensation. While the compensation will never heal the wrong done to them, they have accepted it.

The others who did not follow proper protocol are facing legal battles too.

It's time to move on, and let the kids play football. The players shouldn't lose the wins and the accolades because they had nothing to do with it.

Pennsylvania has made changes because of this and it's sad that an unfortunate event caused changes and safeguards to be placed, but they are and I hope they never have to see these atrocities again.

Penn State won those games while Joe Paterno was Head Football Coach. Joe Paterno was part of the institutional conspiracy to cover up the child abuse by Jerry Sandusky, wasn't he? Didn't Penn State, as an institution, value football more than protecting innocent minors?

Personally I agree. Because regardless of his mistakes off the field the fact is that on the field he won all those games legitimately. And to our knowledge without any form of cheating football wise.

So in my eyes you can never change what you actually saw happen on the field. Unless you prove something like steroids for half the team.

Today the NCAA reinstated Joe Pa's wins from the Jerry Sandusky era.

Not going to start a political war on whether people think that's right or wrong. But just posting to say he reclaims his spot atop the rankings as Most wins by a D1 coach in history.

Penn State's football team is getting back 112 wins wiped out during the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal, and the late Joe Paterno has been restored as the winningest coach in major college football history.

Update on PSU football recruiting class of 2013:

Wide receiver recruit Will Fuller of Philadelphia reiterated his commitment to Penn State on Saturday after speaking with Nittany Lions head coach Bill O'Brien -- as did several other players.

Penn State football generated around $90 million dollars last year.

Penn State is a fine academic institution and many forget that it is actually more than just a football school. Over 40000 students attend the main campus, plus a large number at branch campuses across the state. Penn State Alumni are like Steelers fans, EVERYWHERE.

Penn State is one of the Largest employers in Centre County and a loss of the university would be almost as crippling to the region as the closing of the coal mines. The region itself is looking to lose millions of $ from loss of football revenue.

It will be interesting to see how the football program recovers, but the education, which is why the school is there will remain top notch. Interesting note is they pulled in over $200 million in alumni donations this past year during yr scandal.

they should have gotten a 10 year death penalty or longer IMO

yeah it sucks for the players and fans that had nothing to do with it but hey, what do you expect when your school supports, protects, and enables a child rapist?

the school actually helped him rape children on their campus, i wouldn't object to a permanent ban to be honest.

its an embarrassment, its despicable, and if i was a penn st fan i don't know if i could continue being a fan.

And imo this is far worse than what SMU did because of the simple fact that what SMU did still goes around in the NCAA today.
I am hearing that the Sanctions they are giving penn State in some ways are actually worse.
