The Heisman has lost all respect and meaning. Not only was the finalist a joke, the winner is an even bigger joke.
Being a Heisman winner has no meaning.

I'm surprised Manziel won as Freshmen after Adrian Peterson got snubbed. Congrats to you Johnny, but I didn't like any of the finalist this year. I really wasn't crazy about T'eo but thought he would have a better chance in the end.

Please explain how the finalists were a joke aside from Manziel who was in only for beating Bama.

Who else deserved it? Geno Smith? After losing 5 in a row. Braxton Miller? While they were on probation and won a weak conference?

Or Kenjon Barner? Who's stats pale in comparison to Manziels.

I think if it was going to be a qb all along it should've stayed with Klein even after the Baylor game. And ultimately it should've gone to Te'o.

And people comparing them to players who didn't win is a joke. Different season going against different candidates.

You want to know why the Heisman is a joke? Only 3 out of 77 times has a defensive player ever won the Heisman. That's roughly 3% Of the time. You mean to tell me that with all of the offensive AND Defensive players that go on to play at the next level, that 97% of the time the best player in college football plays on offense? That's ridiculous.

Defensive impact can't always be quantified as easily as an offensive player in a 'skill position', but it should be recognized more. I expect the casual fan to think in those terms, but football guys should be better than this.

I wish they would call it what it is, and just come out and say it's an offensive award. It's fine if you do that, but let's not pretend it's an award for the best player in college football. They proved that when they didn't give it to Suh years ago, who absolutely dominated in every game.

C'mon man. Tebow scored 55 touchdowns (32 passing and 23 rushing) in 12 games during his Heisman season.. He deserved to win that year.

There are plenty of reasons I think Johnny Manziel should not have won the Heisman.

First, I agree with everyone who said that Manziel's performances in LSU and Florida proved he can be just as damaging to his team as he can be good for it. That kind of inconsistency plays a BIG factor in me preferring Te'o.

And I agree with everyone who says that Te'o is a much better player at his position than Manziel is at his, and that the only reason Te'o isn't getting it is because it's not "sexy" to give it to a defensive player.

Secondly, the Heisman Trophy is supposed to be awarded to "the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity." The important part being "pursuit of excellence with integrity." What about arrest and three misdemeanor charges? Coach Sumlin himself even admitted, "There's been a lot of things he has had to do internally, first of all to get back in the team's good graces and continue to be on the team." Really? So a player who was arrested and had to work to even stay on the team can be considered "pursuing excellence"?

What's your issue with Tebow winning the Heisman? He might not be an NFL-caliber QB, but he was arguably one of the most prolific college QBs ever. Almost 10,000 career passing yards, 3,000 career rushing yards, and 145 total TDs. Not to mention the year he won the Heisman he had 55 total TDs, over 4,000 total yards, and a 6-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio.

Get off your high horse. Where did I say that the finalist this year were a joke? I said I simply didn't like them in comparison to previous years. Klein had zero chance of winning the Heisman regardless of the Baylor game, we both know that. And considering Suh and Mathieu didn't come close, it's no surprise that T'eo didn't win.

It's an offensive player award turned into a Dual-threat QB of the Year award. I don't even know why the NCAA still invites defensive players to the Heisman presentation.

Didn't he win 2? His 1st was when McFadden was a finalist, who IMO, should've won.

No he was up for it 2-3 times, but he only won it during that 2007 season when his numbers were off the charts.
