Bret made a huge mistake here. I was very surprised when I heard, but the more and more I think about it I understand. He's never really been embraced here in Madison. He's a Hawkeye. Badger fans have always thought Paul Chryst was far more important to our program than Bret was, that's why we are upset he didn't leave us last year! Just worried about this from a recruiting stand point.

I'd love to see Barry coach us in the Rose Bowl. I also would love to see Darrell Bevell as our head coach next year.

Me thinks the expectations of you Badger fans was pretty unrealistic for this year.

You guys refused to acknowledge that this was a rebuilding year. And you saw the team make tons of progress by the end of the season. .
We were pre-season ranked 12, coming off our 2nd straight Rose Bowl. Yes we lost Russell Wilson but Danny O'Brien coming in was suppose to be our Starting QB for the next 2 seasons. We had our Heisman finalist RB coming back with 2 very solid back ups behind him. Our #1 WR and our best passing weapon TE was also returning. Our defense was improved from last year.

And yes we lost some offensive lineman, but we also had 2 or 3 returning starters. Wisconsin is known for year in and year out just plugging in offensive lineman and turning out pros. This year was suppose to end in nothing but a Rose Bowl bid, so yes we achieved our goal. But we lost 5 games this year and backed in because of suspended teams. So yes, we definitely underachieved.

Adios Bielema, good luck, you'll need it. If you were mad about how aggressive Urban Meyers recruiting was, you are going to get eaten alive in the SEC.

Better facilities, the SEC allows teams to pay their assistants pretty well, which doesn't happen in the B1G. Those are the biggest two I can think of.

He won't have the academic restrictions he does here at Wisconsin.

Also I wonder if Bret ever sees him self in the NFL, maybe it's just me but he'd get a better chance if he succeeded in the SEC.

So much for that million dollar home he's been building here on Lake Waubesa.

Just take a look at this season, which was pretty much a microcosm of his career. They start the year struggling on offense, almost losing to Northern Iowa at home. They really had a hard time running the ball all year, even with 2 1,000 yard rushers in Montee Ball and James White returning. Fast forward to the Big Ten Championship game, where nobody gave the Badgers a snowball's chance in hell of winning, and they put up 500+ yards rushing. As I said, there's never really been any consistency in his coaching.

Has a DI/FBS team rushed for over 500 yards since the Wishbone Era?

Well, Georgia Tech ran for 604 last year against Kentucky, and came close twice this year against Virginia and Prebstryian(sp), that said they run the triple option, and have some wishbone triple option looks.

Who is going to be their OC? They'll need a good one.

Arkansas and Wisconsin the last few years have been very contrasting styles.

Barry Alvarez to coach the Rose Bowl. He was asked to do so by the team captains. Not sure how much coaching he'll do, I think he's there in more of an advisory role.

Yes, ESPN said yesterday that he would be an on field adminstrator to makes sure everything was addressed adminstratively, but the coaching piece would be done by the coaches already there.
