You didn't read my post carefully. I didn't say the teams with a bye usually lose.

I said the teams who rest starters in week 17 and then have a bye usually lose. That's three weeks off for starters.

Packers last year were in that situation. Manning has been upset in that situation before.

The other home teams most of them last year were playing for something in week 17. So it's only two weeks off. That's like a normal bye during the season.

I'm just referring to when starters are out for basically three weeks. Closer to how long the layoff is before bowls.

For the national title it's closer to 5 weeks off. So you can imagine how much more difficult it is for them to come out at a high level.

I'm think Bama still wins on shorter rest last night but you could tell how rusty ND was. It didn't help their cause. I don't think people cut ND or Te'o enough slack for that.

And they may be starting a playoff in two years but the process is still wrong. They will still have a month off between the conference title games and the first playoff game on New Year's Day.

Teams will still be rusty and come out flat and people will complain the better team just didn't show up from rust.

It's really ridiculous that noone even considers it possible that ND's no show was from rust and massive nerves. The kids looked scared from the opening tunnel scene while the confident cocky champs ran out.

Not everyone is capable of keeping teams motivated and prepared after a month off. That's why only Saban has more than 2 BCS championships. I hate him but the man keeps his teams focuses and prepared.

It's ridiculous to act like ND is pathetic and didn't prepare. They just were scared and flat out not good enough.

It happens to NFL teams too though. Rest starters in week 17 and a bye first round. Usually ends up in a second round loss. Why? Rust. Impossible to keep a team at a high level after so long off.

Bowl season is meaningless from a football point-of-view. Five weeks to prepare for a post season game is ridiculous.

The shortest time any bowl team had was two weeks and even that is only slightly less ridiculous.

Thirty-five bowl games; seventy teams out one hundred twenty participating in one post season game each? And this "process" determines a "national champion"?

Anything less than a sixteen team playoff is not worthy of the title "national champion".

The current DI/FBS post season is only meaningful to the venues that host bowl games. Why stop at seventy? Have a bowl game for every major college football team.

Can't even imagine how much Manti Te'o hurt his draft stock last night. He was being talked up as the next Ray Lewis (Skip Baseless), now he's the guy that was getting tossed around and run all over in the biggest game by far of his career. Alabama is the closest thing to an NFL team he's played and they made him look really bad.

Seahawks-Skins kind of saved it for me. That was a good comeback, after those first two drives the Seahawks looked dead in the water.

This weekend will almost surely bring the fireworks with 4 spectacular matchups! CAN'T WAIT! *in Bart Scott voice*

No surprise Bama won, ND is incredibly overrated, this team should of lost to Pittsburgh. Hell of a season but no way they were beating Bama. Can only ride that magic for so long.
They really screwed the gambler in me by sucking THAT much....I had them loosing but by 7-12 points not 28 in a half !!!!
