Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Nobody really knows what happens besides the people who were there when it happened but it seemingly clears Winston. Hopefully it doesn't hurt his Heisman chances if he was innocent.

So he lied saying he wasn't there, yet his DNA was found in places we can't say here. Sounds legit. I smell coverup! It is painfully obvious he got away with it. How much did FSU pay the investigator?
If FSU wasn't in the national title hunt, he probably would be behind bars right now.
He got away with it, everyone knows! If you think otherwise you are so blind to details.
I hope FSU loses in the national title game. If they don't lose to Duke first!

I cant say he did it, but from the reports the way the police handled it leads me to think foul play. When Meggs said the lapses in memory made it difficult, I was like if only the didnt wait like 11months to investigate.
What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?
I don't know and I don't care

Well, from what is being said right now: She gave incorrect statements about who she was with. She was incorrect about how much she drank. And she claimed to have received head trauma, of which no evidence could be found. She may have a civil case regardless, but that's not cheap. It would be interesting to see if a civil case would be settled out of court.
The girl claimed that she was intoxicated and/or drugged. Toxicology reports came up with a very small amount of alcohol and no other drugs/rufies in her system. Her reports give very little detail, saying she barely remembers anything.
Just sounds like a girl trying to get paid to me.
EDIT - via ESPN:
Search warrants in the case were released before Meggs' announcement and indicate the woman told police she was raped at an apartment after a night of drinking at a bar. In the warrant, the accuser says she and friends had shots at Potbellys and her "memory is very broken from that point forward."
Meggs said that toxicology reports show the accuser had a blood alcohol level of .04 and that there was no evidence of drugs, including what are commonly referred to as date rape drugs.
According to the warrants, the accuser says she remembers being in a cab with a man and going into an apartment before she was raped. Meggs said that investigators could not find the cab driver, the attempt made much more difficult by the time that had elapsed.
After that, she remembers the suspect dressing her, putting her on a scooter and dropping her off at an intersection, but she had no idea where the alleged rape occurred.
"Her recall of the events of that night have been moving around quite a bit," Meggs said.
He said that there were memory lapses in the accuser's story, and they were trying to figure out how that would have come about.
Nearly one year after Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was accused of rape by a female FSU student, the state attorney has decided not to charge the Heisman Trophy favorite.

I find this more believable than a police conspiracy. Just my opinion, folks.

She identified him on Jan 15 of last year, Jameis wasnt even the starting QB then hell there was no guarantee he would be the starter. So I highly doubt it was about getting paid.

He was the #11 overall recruit in the country, and #1 QB recruit (according to ESPN). He had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Stanford. Long before he even showed up to camp this year, Trent Dilfer predicted he was a future #1 overall NFL draft pick. It's not like the guy was a nobody, especially around campus.
I'm just saying from the facts given that I've seen, it doesn't look like the girl had a good case at all. To me, it sounds made up. Now if more evidence gets released indicating otherwise, I'll change my mind. But to me, it all seems pretty fishy.
As a sexual assault counselor, having memory lapses is not that unusual for victims of rape. It should be noted that the toxicology report was done several hours after the incident, thus not obtaining actual levels during the time of the assault. By the time the test was done the alcohol was metabolized thus lowering her true status. Date rape drugs also metabolize and get out of ones system pretty quickly. We used to encourage victims to get a tox screen right away so accurate levels could be determined. I have worked with survivors who were clearly drugged but because the test wasn't done within a correct timeframe, it was already out of her system.
There are still questions that needs to be answered such as why this investigation didn't happen a year ago. Another question that needs more scrutiny is whether the TPD dissuaded her from filing a report in the first place: basically telling her that she would be dragged through the mud going up against the mighty college and their player.
Based on what the State Prosecutor stated, they didn't believe they could win their case due to a lack of evidence. Not going forward doesn't mean it didn't happen or that he wasn't guilty, just that they didn't believe they could win the case due to many factors.

He was the 3rd string QB at that point, who was 2 years away from any sort of payday. So the fact anyone can say she was looking for a payday is beyond me.
