Well, what do we think OU will do without Long?

I think they'll be even BETTER, now.

Long is anything but a good OCoordinator.

He's stale, has NO kind excitement, when it comes to play calling, and simply couldn't game plan against opposing D's.

I hope OU brings in an up/comer.

Any names out there who'd be good for a stud rb/possibly great qb combo?

Myself, I'd like to see Heupel come back and take over the position.
His dad coaches in NAIA, and Josh KNOWS football.

I'm gonna disagree with you about Chuck, partially. I think the playcalling was pretty vanilla this year, although you have to admit it got a lot better as the year went on. The problem early was that our offense couldn't even produce on the most basic plays. Rhett was lost(remember -- not a single pass attempt the entire 2nd half against Tulsa) and the o-line couldn't block the sun from a midget.

He got a little more creative when AD was down. The offense looked pretty good towards the end of the year--for the most part.

There is one play that stands out to me though. When we line up with AD about 9 yds deep and JD Runnels is lined up as a flanker. I don't think we ever ran for more than 2 yards on that play. JD is probably the best blocking FB in the nation. Line up in the I and give him a running start!!!

This being said, I like Kevin Wilson as the OC, but bring Josh in to coach the QBs. Rhett is gonna do nothing but get better IMO, and with Josh there to guide him....I think it would be great.

Let's hope Long leaving won't be a distraction for the game.

Well, I'm also alluding to past years....

Take last year's BCS game....PLEASE (bad, sorry)

Long had NO answer for what USC was doing....all game long.

After OU scored, USC knew exactly how to stop them. And there was nothing Long could do to change that.

Long was horrible...IMO, he didn't give AD the ball more... the guy is a freak, and you're not going to use him atleast 9 out of 10 times? The biggest reason for OU's late season offense success was the O-line... before AD was pulling off amazing runs with guys on his back in the backfield, but later in the year, he had a hole that got him automatic yards, and then he carried guys on his back for even more yards...lol, I hope to see him in a blue and orange Uni someday...

        Good luck against the Ducks!

        GO BIG XII!!!

AD had over 300 carries last year. He has 500 plus already...thats more than a lot of backs have in a full career. The reason his carries are down this year is because he was hurt.

Even still, you take all of those bullets that Bomar threw to the ground early in the season and hand that rock to AD...lol... I still believe that AD played hurt half the games that he actually played in... If it weren't for AD, they would of probably lost to Tulsa...and if they didn't mess with Bomar against TCU, they probably would of won that game in the hands of AD...

He's probably got one more year left, barring any season injuries, but next year, they have to evolve around him not Bomar... Bomar showed signs of being pretty darn good, but kid is erratic...they need to give it to their best player when the game is on the line, and I feel that it is AD...

Well, don't forget. Their Oline was a work in progress the entire season.
And what sucks even more, is instead of playing the underclassmen more, for next year's benefit, they mainly stuck with upperclassmen.
Meaning next year could very well start out just as bad.

They had to throw the ball early in the year because the line couldn't give AD any room to run. Teams were stacking the box, especially after seeing OU struggle.

I wish you had told my alma mater this BEFORE they hired the guy. SDSU wants to be taken seriously as a football school, but they're not (even when they Marshall Faulk). The Aztecs should just stick to guzzling beers....

Yeah, OU's looked a little sloppy at times throughout the year, but I'm glad they were able to salvage this season.

I think that next year is going to be HUGE for OU. I'm not talking National Title big (yet), but I think that with AD back at full strength and Rhett Bomar getting more and more used to this offense, we've got to look pretty damn good going into 2006.

Rhett Bomar to Malcolm Kelly = very good. And you're always ok when you're handing Adrian the rock, baby.

                        SOONERS IN 06! hehe.

If last night's game was any sort of predication to Wilson's game-planning, then next year could be fun.

I liked how Bomar was given 'quick' reads/outs, plus the offense looked more 'open' than under Long.

If the Oline can be addressed, post haste, I like their chances for improving on this year.
