Iowa was on the bad side of a poorly officiated contest, that is for sure.
However, Iowa's defense was barking out fake snap counts that resulted in 5 false starts for Florida.
The officials finally caught them doing it in the 2nd half.
Iowa was never called for holding in the game, which is puzzling to Gator fans everywhere. Five or six were blatantly obvious.
Bottom line is, unfortunately the game was marred by officials who couldn't keep up to the speed of the game. A game in which one team has to win and the other lose.
I give Iowa tons of credit for the come back, but too little too late when their receivers were dropping balls and on some plays didn't even know what routes they were supposed to be running.

Iowa's fans are all class. I enjoyed their presence at GatorCountry.com where I am a member.

no Iowa didn't play a perfect game but they shut the gaters down in the second half and were robbed of a chance to even the game, if the right calls that should have been called were actually called we would have been watching a completly different game.

No, Iowa didnt play the perfect game. In fact, they completely sucked in the first half, but dont tell me that it wouldnt have been a different game if around 8 calls had/hadnt been made. These werent all controversial calls either...some of them were totally blatent. The Hinkel catch couldve been reviewed but was it?

For one, that punt that Florida blocked may have not even happened because the catch by Hinkel is called a force out and Iowa continues their drive down the field. Now field position is an issue and Florida wouldnt go all out if Iowa stalled again but would play it safe and call a return.

Yes there was a punt blocked for a TD and the Gators had a good offense going, but what if the refs actually called a fair game.

Evidence A--- Hinkel catch is called a forceout, not an incomplete, letting iowa continue their drive and not punt from their own territory.

B-- Roughing the kicker gives Florida a 1st down after the kicker's leg landed on the iowa player, letting florida have another shot and scoring.

Then there are some other strange calls, but the last one was the major one. The announcer said it perfectly when he said," These kids have been playing their hearts out, and they execute a play like this and you take it away from them just like that."

Would Iowa have been down at the half still? Probably...but by 31-7? NO.

Refs better have had to pay to ref and not the other way around, since high school refs can ref better than that.

I don't believe anything like that was ever said. I'll give credit where credit is due, Florida played a heck of a game...but Iowa was still in it, so in essence, Florida fans should be wondering to themselves why they hadn't already put Iowa away after rolling up stats like that. Bottom line is that while Iowa didn't play a very good game, they played a good enough game to be in it at the end, and were not treated equally by the referees...but then again, I will admit that my Huskers were treated a little favorably by the refs, and you won't hear me complain about that...it's about time the refs didn't hose them out of a victory.

they just showed replay on espn. that guy was clearly onsides. how can you even call offsides on a play like that unless it's painfully obvious? i mean, that's a game deciding call. it should be made sparingly

It wasn't just that call, it was a runing into the kicker call, helmet to helmet, a facemask called on iowa but comited by the gaters . I could ramble on for minutes, I think that was the absalute worst job by refs I have ever seen, pro or collage level Hawkeyes were the better team
    Worse than the Nebraska/Michigan game?

I watched most of the 1st half and turned it off after the refs flew those 2 calls in a row shortly after blowing the call about hinkel not being forced out on that incompletion.

Yeah, I caught the end of that game. I was amazed. I hope those officials enjoy their all expense paid vacations to FLA.

Iowa got hosed by the refs several times in that game...though, that being said, they didn't do themselves any favors by letting their first punt get blocked and returned for a touchdown. Unfortunately I missed the end of the game, had to take the wife to the doctor's office.
