But when I played, I was a defensive tackle. I wish I could have kept with it. I'm 6'3" 280 as it is, and I'd probably be pretty good if I hadn't had my foot problems. Now I smoke and I drink too much, so I'd probably suck
I was a dirty player. I used to pop guys with my open palm just below the rib cage - about half the time, they'd collapse and I'd have a free lane to the QB. I remember one game, by the end, I was getting double teamed and the guys were punching me instead of blocking. I was laughing at them. Offensive linemen used to hate me.
Me and my partner on the line used to rub the ball in the mud while the offense was in the huddle. When the center would pick up the ball and brush it off, we'd deck him. Once, we even got a fumble this way.
The worst thing I ever did was hit our team's QB in practice. I hated the guy, though. I rang his bell, and he was out for the rest of the practice with a mild concussion. I ran so many laps for that. Didn't hurt that he was the coach's son. Why's that always true with QB's?
QB's are wussies.Comment

My high school QB definitely was NOT a wuss. He was one of the toughest kids I ever met . . . a good QB, too, known state-wide. His name was Butch Butler (keep in mind, kids, this was back in the early 1960s). Unfortunately, his career was ended after his junior year when he died in a rafting accident on the Colorado River. The field to our high school was eventually named Butch Butler Field. I don't know whether or not it still is . . . maybe there's a Greeley student here who knows.
Not much to tell about me. I played TE/DE, and I stunk in high school and I stunk in college. But the coaches held on to me, if only to ride the bench most of the time, probably because I played with a mean streak . . . I was afraid of all of nobody. I never got past the tackle much, but he knew he had been in a fight.
Oh, my schools were Greeley (Colo.) High School (now Greeley Central) and Northern Colorado (UNC).
That's about it.

He accidentally got his hand up under the guard's armpit on a play, and the kid just started giggling. Before you know it, the RB's getting stuffed at the line every play because their left guard could do nothing but laugh on every play because our DT was tickling him.
Say what you will, but it's not against the rules!HEAR ME ROAR!

fb and lb
i played some high school football of course my school team was so small we played both ways but it was fun. i played linebacker and fullback. my stats are 2 tackles and one touchdown. i didn't see much time in my sophomore year cuz it was my first but i still rushed for a score when it was 46-0. and than i did play a few games my junior year and it was funny
one play i knew i was slow and a i saw rb was ready to break a long for a score so i figured i'd try to chase him. i kept telling myself i was going to get burned by him but in the end i caught up with him and took him down. my other shocker was i tackled a kid head on in the open boy was i lucky he didn't juke me. my senior year was the worst i blow my knee out in camp and was out the whole season
coach was ready to switch to a 4-4 defense when i was in spring training but it didn't pan out much
the coaches knew i trained well and gave me a letter and my team voted me most improved my first year. alot of this i guess was luck but that's ok.
now my next goal is to try out for Navy football. my luck i won't make it but alteast i will be able to say i'd try out for college ball.
BRING IT HOME AGAIN!!

Id run circles around both of you.
If you take what I have to say seriously, then I'm embarrassed for you.Comment

I've been playing football since 4th grade also.
Middle school was when my competitive drive grew. Throughout 6th and 8th grade, I played wide out and corner. 6th grade, mainly corner. 7th and 8th, both ways. (Too bad my high school team right now won't allow players to play both ways.)
When I got to high school, I decided to stick it with being a receiver. My height is a disadvantage to me as a receiver, being only 5'10. But my size and speed make up the difference. (185lbs and 4.41 40 yard dash + 33in vertical).
I love being a receiver, the thrill of catching the ball in the faces of the defenses who have been running their mouths. Being an option for your quarterback or just out playing corners period.
Upcoming season I will be handling kick off and punt return duties since our return specialist graduated. I am definately excited to see what I can bring to the table next year, my senior year.Comment

I played linebacker pretty much from 6th thru 12th grades(missing my freshman year with a broken arm). Played o-line also, moving to fullback my senior year due to a couple of injuries on our team. I came in to my soph year at 5'5" 170 -- soft and slow. Came into my senior year at 5'8" 160 and pretty solid. Shed two and a half inches from my waist and changed my 40 time from a 5.3 to a 4.7 in two years.
My senior year was my best year. Had about 120 tackles(with 17 being my single game high). Moved to fullback in the second game. We didn't have much size, which is evident in the fact that I was a starting guard at 160lbs. I was as strong as all but one of our linemen, just too light. At my height I could pass block as well as anyone, but my run blocking stunk. The move to fullback allowed me to get a running start on my run blocking assignments and that worked out very well.
Only carried the ball 2 or 3 times a game. My longest run was about 17 yards on a trap play. It was a blast. I just wish I could have carried the ball more.I'm Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die, I'll be Sooner dead.
Nebraska's new quarter with the Sooner Schooner running right over the state of Nebraska. A sign of things to come? =)Comment
