Reggie Bush's parents did not pay $54,000 in rent during the year they lived in a home owned by a sports marketing agency investor, the owner of the house told two newspapers.

Reggie Bush's parents received $100,000 in cash from investors in a company that hoped to sign the back, an attorney for the investors said in a letter obtained by The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The Reggie Bush episode is another example of the difficult compliance issues facing NCAA and its member schools, writes Ivan Maisel.

If Reggie Bush violated NCAA rules, don't punish USC and his former teammates. But take away his Heisman, says Skip Bayless.

Southern California coach Pete Carroll said emphatically Monday he doesn't believe the Trojans will have to forfeit games or lose a national championship.

The Pacific-10 Conference and NCAA are investigating. Should Bush be ruled ineligible, forfeitures are a possibility. And should it be determined he was ineligible in 2004, the national championship USC won that year could be impacted.

Also, redshirt freshman Mark Sanchez, a possible successor to 2004 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Matt Leinart, was arrested for investigation of sexually assaulting a female student. He was released on $200,000 bail.

Finally, questions arose over the weekend concerning the living arrangement of All-American wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett, who will be a junior in the fall. USC officials are investigating whether an upscale apartment Jarrett shared with Leinart violated NCAA rules.

The school has notified the Pac-10 of its investigation, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

Well there are a lot of teams in the 20's 30's and 40's that went undefeated and were not given the proper recognition. I know in 37 OU went undefeated and they gave the title to TCU. Also in 1949 OU went undefeated and shut LSU out in the Sugar Bowl and they still gave the title to Notre Dame, leaving OU #2. I think there are many schools that "claim" titles that werent actually given them. If you ask michigan fans how many titles they have won, a lot of them will say 11 when the AP only recognizes 2.

As I said, your numbers are inflated. Officially, these are the number of titles. I didn't have the numbers off the type of my head, but this wasn't the first time I have heard these false numbers presented. Check a real reference source. How is that for facts? And I didn't call you a name; I called the Trojans one.
Well now at least you are posting facts and I congratulate you for that.

It seems that we will have to have a disagreement as to what constitutes a "National Championship" in a sport which does not truly have one. Throughout history there have been many split national championships and most football fans consider those years to have two (or even more in early history) champions. By your definition, however, you seem to be saying that neither school deserves to be recognized in those years because they were not "consensus" national champs, is that correct? While I certainly would have to disagree with this logic, I do see it as a valid argument.

3 - With regards to Vince Young and the Longhorns, they won the National Title this year. And your point is? They have nothing to do with this thread or the subtext it has taken which is, namely, the Trojan program and their national championships.

4 - I will say it again my young friend, learn how to debate with facts, not name calling.

No, my point is, the majority of your national championships were half a century ago. Not to say that they didn't count, but they had no BCS or anythng making it a lot diffent. (ha h hll? mos of m ks ant okn)
