It's all about 'what have you done for me lately' anyways. And I'm sure BOTH of you know the feeling (although Nebraska more so). I know I do with the Broncos. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE LATELY!!! (except make me spend $2000 on the AFC Championship trip.......)
Ummmmmmm... I could be wrong because I'm a Nebraska fan and don't care much for college football outside of Nebraska but doesn't Oklahoma only have 7?

Besides, as discussed in an earlier thread, many of the Championships won by teams like USC and ND weren't really recognized.
Should be "after 1950" because you would be discrediting a WHOLE bunch of influencial NFL athletes, or how about "after segregation National Championships"?

Anyways, it's all about who's on top now. So, Texas is King, until someone says otherwise. (I don't hate Texas, hate is such a strong word, but not a fan).

Reminiscing about the past is like saying the Raiders are still [email protected]$$es. Now they're just bad and they're @$$es.

HOPING TO SEE MORE OF THIS IN 2012

ESPN’s John Clayton reported that McKenzie is expected to review Jackson’s performance for the next week or so. Clayton reports that the odds favor Jackson staying in Oakland, but a decision has not been made. "I still get the feeling Jackson will end up being retained." 3 1/2 HOURS LATER, THE RAIDERS FIRED JACKSON.....GOOD CALL CLAYTON

        National Champions Debate

Read where it says some Universities claim MORE than are listed, and some claim LESS. Oklahoma claims less. Michigan claims more. Go figure...didn't Brady go there?

I just looked it up because that got me wondering but OU has only won 7 according to this http://okc.about.com/od/spectatortea...rsfootball.htm

One of the most honored programs in NCAA football, the Oklahoma Sooners have won 7 National Championships, 39 Conference Championships, have had 38 bowl appearances and 141 All-Americans. Legendary coaches Bud Wilkinson, Barry Switzer and now Bob Stoops make up a fraternity of excellence over several decades of NCAA play. OU has played football since 1895 and has won 10 or more games more than any other team in NCAA history.

Oh, never realised that I guess. I figured NCAA would just settle it and make a standard that they have to go by on claiming titles.

Yeah, some "media sources" I guess that claimed Oklahoma were champs, Oklahoma didn't agree with them for some reason. I just laugh at the fact that Michigan is claiming more than they have. I'm guessing Oklahoma doesn't recognize the CFRA awarded them in 1949 and 1953.

Did you ever see a game at Nebraska with Kenny Walker? He's probably my favorite Nebraska player ever.

Wasn't he the deaf guy that played in like 86-90 or something like that? I think I remember watching him and if he played in that time frame I did but was pretty young at the time.

I'd say the only bigger joke than Nebraska in college football nowadays is Colorado.

Yes, he was the deaf guy. All-American while at NE. Played with the Broncos for a few years also. I admire the heck out of that guy. I just read that he's coaching football at an Iowa school for the deaf.

I'd wait until the season gets underway before you make statements like that... At the end of last year, I would have agreed with you-- But Hawkins is working hard to restore pride to the school & team..

There are some things to build on... CU had the best rushing defense before the NU & UT games & they get a number of vets back on defense + they have a good, quick secondary & an All American kicker....

Long Story Short, I wouldn't say CU is a joke-- They've won the North 4 of the last 5 years, which isn't saying much, but you can hardly say NU is very far ahead of CU in recent years.

Nebraska Vs Colorado at Boulder, ended the so called dynasty of the huskers

Colorado SUCKED this year, no doubt about it, but i remember everyone on Sportscenter saying that Nebraska would win, Nebraska was better, and we layed into them

i dont remember the talk about Colorado being better this year

although we did end up going to the Big 12 championship to get man handled by Texas, but we still made it, which Nebraska did not

the last games of the season for CU were terrible, we showed promise early before the Miami game

come back when you have a better argument
even after the miami game we showed a lot of promise. i was expecting them to steamroll us but we gave their offense a hard time
