  • Coaches rank Buckeyes No. 1, defending champ Texas no.2....

Defending national champion Texas is ranked No. 2, behind Ohio State, in the preseason USA Today Coaches' Poll, released Thursday.

Here is the preseason coaches poll.....I think its about right except I think USC is WAY overrated for what they lost.

No, Miami is not gonna be that good. They probably get it handed to them by the Noles since they have so many suspended for it. Kyle Wright is nobody.

I would really like Ohio State's chances if it werent for their young inexperienced D. Smith and Ginn are just gonna have to outscore some teams. Dont they play Penn St. in Happy Valley?

Ohio State has too much holes to fill on defense.

Bobby Carpenter, A.J. Hawk, their entire secondary. That's all the players I can thinkof right now...

ND doesn't have a great defense, but they are the front runners in my mind.

Texas should not be #2. They lost Vince Young. They will have a very hard time trying to replace him. Especially at the beginning of the season.

USC is too high also. They lost way too many good players. Way way too many.

These rankings really mean nothing for everyone complaining. They mostly go off of last year to rank the teams. Once the season starts and a couple games have been played these rankings will be way different. I don't think Texas and USC are going to do much this year. Plus, who doesn't rank Nebraska as #1? That right there should show you how off they are.

There's a lot more logic to that than the Nebraska claim, Nick.
