  • Does Dan Hawkins have a brain?

seriously, does he? any coach could see that you pull cox in the MSU game at LEAST before the fourth quarter starts (i wanted him out at halftime). but does hawkins pull him? to add insult to injury, by his postgame comments, it seems like he intends to start cox for the csu game. why was cox even the starter? did hawkins not look at film of any of our previous games ever? everyone knew he was a practice star but froze up in games but he gets named the starter......... i think this is going to be a long five years . i know it sounds stupid to turn on a coach after the first game, but this was the most horrible thing i've ever seen in my life and i was feeling better but then i just read his postgame comments and it made me angry all over again

Is Cox really that bad? If he is, I too question why the dude is even starting.

If he's the best you guys got, then I wouldn't expect too many wins this season. Two or three? :/

I know it's early and A LOT of minds can be changed, but it doesn't look like you guys are getting a stellar recruiting class. It looks to be the same type of recruiting class Gary Barnett would have gotten.

I don't know much about Hawkins other than he always had nice offenses at Boise State and was always trying tricky plays and such, but if he wants to turn this program around, the first step is recruiting some players who can actually play.

Yeah, some dropped passes here and there but he looked lost out there (like always)... apparently the competition for starting QB was "close"...if that was the case, I don't know why Brian White (or other QB with upside) didn't get ANY playing time...very disappointed at Hawk right now, he can make it all better by beating CSU (which I don't see happening)...
fight u dwn the fied..cu must win.. fight fight fr Victoy..cu knows no defet! so roll up the mighty score, Never Give in!!...shouler to shulder we will FIGHT..FIGHT ... FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!

yes, cox is that bad. he's played in 5 games. 3 as starter, two as backup. his career passer rating is like negative million or something he has NEVER shown anything on the field, but he is a good practice player. i'm disturbed that hawkins made him the starter just because he can practice. our recruiting class has (well had before the game) a 5 star recruit showing strong interest and several 4 star recruits showing high interest) so it had the potential to be good. i don't think we'll get any of those now though

that's not the half of it, my friend. our top two receivers were benched. the one who was by far the most talented on the team (probably could be one of the top in the big 12 if he wasn't injured all last year) and the one who has the best hands on the team (too bad for the dropped passes by our third and fourth receivers). we kept using freshman defenders in the game instead of our better senior and sophomores. one instance was using our freshman defender to get beaten in the redzone by their best receiver........... and hawkins after the game "maybe it was a good thing that we lost"

Oh. Well thanks for letting me in on all of that. I don't know that much about Colorado in real time, other than what you see online or hear on ESPN at night.

I know Hawkins did amazing things with a school like Boise State, so he has potential to do things with Colorado.

I just don't really understand the use of freshman over your vets out there, especially when you should be hammering a team like Montana State. Oh, and I don't think it's ever a good thing to lose. Especially to a D2 team when you're in the Big 12...

                      Survey says....NO.

Seriously, what was ever the big deal with this guy? Total product of an easy schedule...when Boise State played real deal programs, they got beat soundly.

                        The red is the truth.

You recognize it, yet ignore it.

He's a good coach implementing his system using players that HE didn't recruit.

                        Patience.

That's actually a misconception. I've been following CU's recruiting closely this year and he is bringing in some pretty talented players; especially on the O-line. The best OT in the nation is favoring CU 70/30 over ND (no telling after yesterday's game though) and Drew Davis, a 4 star receiver out of Colorado (someone that Barnett never would have even tried to recruit) lists CU as his favorite for the time being. He is building this program by starting with the O-line.

I think the reason you are seeing some of the Freshman already playing is because Barnett's players haven't shown Hawkings much in terms of ability.

It's going to be a couple years to rebuild this program. I'm not ready to freak out yet.

Isn't that Ryan Miller and Drew Davis actually from the state of Colorado?

I believe those are the two you're refering to. If so, yeah I can see he's taking steps to build this program up. You have to start with saving in state talent and not allowing the gems to escape to other schools.

I think most Colorado fans have to understand this isn't going to happen overnight. It pretty much starts at the recruiting table.

They are both Colorado products, that's why they're so important to land. Barnett has let too many instate guys leave because of poor recruiting, I.E. Lendale White.

CU has 10 commitments to this point, at this time last year they had about 6. The class that Hawkins put together last season was amazing considering he only had a month to do so.

But, if he does keep losing like this, he'll be hard pressed to get more quality recruits on board....
