I would like Nebraska to win this game only because I hate USC so much. But even though USC lost so many players from last year, I still think that USC will win it at home.

The home field won't be a big factor for them like it normally is. Over 1/3 of the stadium is expected to be Nebraska fans, based on the area codes that the tickets where sent to. They won't have near the noise on defense to help and will have a lot more noise on offense than they are used to for home games. It is one of the single advantages to being a Nebraska fan. They tend to take away or limit home field advantages when we are on the road.

Ha, I am not sure which way it will go at this point. Neither team has played anybody yet, both are fairly young, and both are showing promise with 50+ points averaged a game. They also both average around 10 given up a game. Right now all we have to go off of is them playing crap teams though.

I still think people are way overhyping USC though. They are a good team and I think this group of starters in a year or so will be dominant. Right now while a ton of them lack experience they are bound to make mistakes though. When they are playing any team worth mentioning those mistakes will cost them big.

Nebraska is comming off of a mediocre year where they started to shine at the end. I think they are a completely different team this year and people are way underestimating them.

So until these teams play I really don't know who I should put more faith in. The game can go either way and I think anyone that takes the spread when they place bets is pretty dumb. I don't know where they came up with an 18.5 point spread but I think they are reallllly overlooking Nebraska's offense. I am willing to bet that this game is very high scoring and both teams are easily over 30. I also think it will be within two scores. The winner will likely be who screws up less in the second half.

Arkansas is not much better than Louisiana Tech. Besides that they still blew both of them out and got the backups a lot of time. It may be wishful thinking but I think that Nebraska has an offense that USC wont be able to stop a lot. I have said though that I don't know how good we will do against their offense because I think it is also pretty good. Their defense is good but the Nebraska offense is deep at a lot of positions with a lot of talent now. Even if Nebraska loses and makes it a close game I will be happy though. The only real threat on the schedule if we can do that is Texas later in the year and we get them in Nebraska, although I doubt we could take Texas if we cant take USC.

Why to watch: Don't laugh. Don't snicker, don't sneer, don't guffaw. Ready? ... This might turn out to be the game for the national title. Fine, so there are about a bazillion other teams out there that would happily challenge that notion, but it's hard to ignore how Nebraska has become a balanced, championship-caliber team on both sides of the ball with a running game to help the ever improving passing attack. The defense has a defensive line on the verge of breaking out and a secondary that, well, more on that in a moment. Yeah, the two wins have come against Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State, but this still looks like a Husker team on the verge of huge things. With Texas looking vulnerable, check out the remaining Husker schedule and find the one, sure-thing loss: Troy, Kansas, at Iowa State, at Kansas State, Texas, at Oklahoma State, Missouri, at Texas A&M , Colorado. Sold yet? If Nebraska is good enough to be USC at USC, it's good enough to blow through the rest of its schedule on the way to a likely rematch with Texas in the Big 12 title game. Of course, there's that little matter of getting past the nation's best team. No, it's not Ohio State, it's not Notre Dame, and it's not someone in the SEC. At the immediate moment, the most talented team in the land is in L.A. with an offense that'll be every bit as effective as previous versions and a defense that should be better than last year's. Why Nebraska might win: It'll all be about tapping the Booty. Nebraska's defense led the nation in sacks and tackles for loss and has all the parts back, While the group hasn't been up-to-2005-snuff so far with only two sacks and ten tackles for loss, there have been some suggestions that the coaching staff didn't exactly turn the dogs loose over the first two weeks in order to keep things under wraps a little bit. USC QB John David Booty has been around for years, but he hasn't faced the pressure he'll see on Saturday outside of a few intense practices. If he's getting popped, the Huskers have a great shot at pulling off the upset. However, if Booty gets a wee bit of time to go through all his reads and let his receivers work deep ...
Why USC might win: ... the Trojans should be able to call their shot and score at will. Don't let the numbers fool you; Nebraska doesn't have the nation's 11th best pass defense. Nicholls State is a pure running team that failed to complete a pass last week in the 56-7 loss. Louisiana Tech wasn't exactly sharp in its passing game, but it came up with 238 yards. The Huskers might have blinding speed in the secondary, but they don't have a lot of experience and are still trying to make all the parts fit after injuries struck early. That's not a plus when facing the nation's best receiving corps.
Who to watch: Does USC have the defense to slow down the Nebraska offense? The overall talent is there, and the linebacking corps is out of this world, but top players are getting picked off by injuries. Starting DT Sedrick Ellis will be out for a while after undergoing knee surgery after suffering an injury in practice. That means Chris Barrett and Fili Moala, who have a little bit of experience, have to play like grizzled veterans. In the secondary, Taylor Mays will try to replace Josh Pinkard after the senior got knocked out for the year with a knee injury. Mays is an NFL talent waiting to blossom, but he's only a freshman and will be picked on right off the bat.
What will happen: This will be Nebraska's coming out party. The offense will put up big numbers and the defense will come up with a gem ... for three quarters. USC will make a few adjustments and will hit just enough home runs in the fourth quarter to get by with a tough, tough win.

Yeah the Piggies are good team and USC did handle them. So what if they didn't win by 60 points they beat the crap of of them. Who did the Husker play? Nicholls State huge difference in the level of competition.

They also played Louisiana Tech who was ranked 40 and just as good as Arkansas, now Louisiana Tech is like 90 though. Nebraska dismantled them as well. There is not a huge difference in the level of competition between those two teams. Nicholls state is 1-AA and not even worth mentioning. Pretty much that game is like a warmup scrimmage - unless you are CU. Arkansas is now 45 in the rankings. It isn't like either team played at all decent competition. The judgement of how good both of these teams are can't really be made untill they play real competition which will mean after this weekend.

I like Nebraska more, mainly because my best friend is a Huskers fan, but I have a $5 bet w/ him that USC wins it. So I'm takin USC.

I am looking forward to this game more and more. USC just keeps dropping players. So far I have heard their starting NT is out and possible the backup wont play because he is listed as questionable. Then they have their star safety out and now another safety is listed as questionable. They have a starting LB out and one of the starting CB's. Then they have their center down and one of their RB's. There where a couple of other backups out as well that I didn't really care about. With the rate that they are just dropping people though it is going to just be making it that much harder on themselves. I really doubt they cover the spread even if they do win at this point.
