Hoover HS, Alabama-'Two-A-Days'

Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere, but I noticed my son watching MTV's 'Two-A-Days' featuring Alabama's Hoover HS football team...

I don't know if there is anything more mythical than a national HS Football Champ..

The episode I saw had the HC, Rush Probst, lose his mind and threaten all his players with not 'recommending' them to scholarships after their first loss in something like 27 games....apparently all of this hapended last yr during the 2005 season. A google search revealed that the school has a budget for football alone of $400K and the HC makes $97 Grand....damn, there must be a whole lotta nothing going on in Hoover, Alabama if that is the case.

Talk about misplaced priorities...

'Hey, we the Kings of High School football!!!"...yeah, right....take a trip to Texas or Florida, Jethro...

Good way to get to collenge if you come from a family with not very much money.

A perfect example is Repete Smith. His dad moved to Hoover so he would have a better chance to get noticed. He just wants his kid to have a better life than him.

As of now, I believe they are no. 1 in the nation, so that's a fairly valid statement.

They live in a tiny town where if they want anything that isnt in a convinient store they have to go drive for 30 miles (sarcasm for some of that). They dont have giant movie theaters, they dont have an NFL team, they dont have any majore sports teams, ect... They have nothing but thier college and thier football team.


Your a Denver fan, most likely because you lived in Denver at some point, why is that not crazy but this is?

It is crazy, but that is all they have as stated. I agree what is so wrong with this. They take pride in football. What else are they going to do? You said get a life, well thats there life so they got one! Isn't that what most sports are for?

Yes you might not be able to put football on a resume, but it could get them to college. Might not be USC or OSU but they have a chance to get out. And if they don't and can't get out, that will be what they can have. Being apart of one of the best HS football teams. You might not care and you probly don't live in a small southern town either. Yes they spend an amazing amount of money, but who cares? They put it towards something for the kids and they use it!

these are high school KIDS playing football lay off of them a bit. MTV is a huge network with lots of money to spend on new programing where do you think alot of this money is coming from? I think its great that there is enthusiasm like that for our high school sports. By the way do you put on your resume that your an a**hole who doesnt support kids? What should we diss on next? The elderly?-jerk
