  • Adrian Peterson Out for the Season

Just saw it on ESPN. OU runningback Adrian Peterson will miss the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone.

NORMAN, Okla. -- Heisman Trophy hopeful Adrian Peterson broke his collarbone on a dive into the end zone Saturday, and the Oklahoma star running back will miss the rest of the regular season.

Peterson was injured on his last carry of the game -- a 53-yard scoring run with about 6:40 remaining that completed the 23rd-ranked Sooners' 34-9 win over Iowa State.

Peterson ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns.

Peterson, a junior, who has 1,030 yards this season and entered the weekend as the nation's fourth-leading rusher, was second in Heisman voting as a freshman. He was playing for the first time in years before his father, who had spent about eight years in federal prison for money laundering.

"Just diving into the end zone and when he landed, he landed wrong," Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said. "At this point it looks like the best thing, the earliest he would be ready to play, would be a bowl game."

Oklahoma running back and Heisman hopeful Adrian Peterson will likely miss the rest of the season after breaking his collarbone Saturday. Coach Bob Stoops hopes Peterson can return for a bowl game.

WOW...I just found out too... OU is in trouble, AD was their team, most importantly thier offense...I all of a sudden feel like we have a chance in Norman next week...

Interesting to see if he stays in college or goes to the NFL...He'll be a mid-late first rounder (a steal) but if he would of finsihed this year, win the heisman, he would of probably went first...

Courtney Brown? The guy had an ankle injury his sophomore year and broke his collarbone today. In case you havent noticed, neither of those are related. The only injury that cna ever really threaten a RBs career is a knee injury, and both of these inuries (yes, all 2 of them) are not located at the knee.

So? Two injuries. . . rather serious I'd say. Not helping his stock at all.

Very sad. Adrian had a chance for the Heisman.
Plus this was his last year in college. Yes, he was leaving.

His dad was attending his first game since Adrian was about 15yrs old.

It sucks to see a guy with such talent who just can't stay healthy......It'll ruin his chances of ever making or becoming successful in the NFL......I hope he can recover quickly and stay healthy

If he is a late rounder as someone said I wonder who will pick him up.

                      He's for sure coming out?

If he does, I'm sure it'll be Willis McGhee-esque and he'll end up most likely 18-32 around that general area.

If the kid could stay healthy, he could be a major steal and turn out alot like a Larry Johnson type player.

Christ people! Mcgahee had hsi knee bent backward. yes, like a flamingo. The knee bent to almost a 90 degree angle in the other direction.

That was a serious knee injury for willis mcgahee. Peterson broke a collarbone and hurt an ankle. If you want to make a comparison, he is like a less-frequently-injured Deangelo Williams. Except Peterson has only two career injuries. On the opposite side of his body (ankle and collar bone). If he goes to the draft, he will be tkaen in the first half of the first round. if he doesnt, Go Oklahoma.0

                          As Dream pointed out..

So? An injury is an injury. Nothing at this point will help his stock and it only opens doors for other players.

Not to mention it shows just how fragile he must be. Someone of his size getting hurt twice with season ending injuries.

That isn't going to hold very well for pro scouts.

Hopefully the kid can bounce back from those injuries. With all the pounding he's taking at the college level do you really think he'll last more than five years in the NFL? if he does declare?

Did someone just compare LJ to AD? LJ is solid, but I believe he's a by-product of the system....AD carries guys on his back, really with no help from the O-line... AD is a one in a century athlete, anything but a solid back that can find holes...
