  • OU vs A&M

I just have to say that this game made me fell very sorry for Charger fans. Bob Stoops is the exact opposite of Marty. In fact, I think we just established the new scale for coaching ballsiness:

    Balls:

    0................................................. ........2......................................... ..................8
    |_____________________________|___________________ ___________|
    MartyBall......................................... Even...........................................Bob byBall

Even Herm cant match up to Stoops as far as wanting to "play to win the game!"

For those who didnt watch the game, Stoops, with 1:30 left in the fourth, leading by one, on 4th and 1 from his OWN 29 yard-line (a situation where not converting would guarantee that you lose the game) he send the troops out to go for it. Thompson gets the first, but Stoops had called a time out before the snap. So now the Aggies know the play. They crowd the LOS, anticipating the sneak. And Stoops calls it, Thompson executes, and the sooners win the game.
Superintendent Chalmers: "Thank the Lord"? That sounded like a prayer. A prayer in a public school. God has no place within these walls, just like facts don't have a place within an organized religion."

It was a good call, but OU was running ALL OVER them, so it was a no-brainer, IMO.

BTW, did anyone hear after a punt return, Reggie Smith go up and said something along the lines of, ''Wassup, *****?''

    Go Huskers.

Yes I heard the comment and some Navy guys and I were laughing our asses off. We were also in disbelief how well a 285 lb running back could move and cut upfield.

I like you Nick, but I have to disagree with you.. 4th and 1 at your own 30 with a 1 point lead is never a no brainer... Stoops started dragging his balls off the field with that call, I loved that call!

To me, it's a no-brainer, but I agree that not many other coaches would make that call. I'd be upset if Callahan didn't.
          Go Huskers.
