  • Path To No. 1 Cleared...

Well, Bloody Saturday went a long way to clearing the path to the National Title Game...

With the loser of Ohio St./Michigan game facing elimination next Saturday, that basically leaves Florida, USC and possibly Notre Dame (if they can beat USC...which won't happen, but I digress)...

I personally say if USC completes it's run against Cal and Notre Dame, they should get the look at the OSU/Michigan winner.

if michigan loses a close game then there should be no way USC deserves it more than Michigan.

Because of the Bowl alliances...there is a owl game that has dibbs on the second place Big Ten team, whoever it turns out to be.

It is a nice thought, but it would take a miracle to happen.

How does Notre Dame get into the title game when michigan crushed them in south bend???? and how does USC get in when they got lit up by Oregon State???? the BCS is flawed beyond belief, what a stupid way to crown a "National Champion" its more like whoever the BCS people like....just ask all the auburn fans from a few years back

              Here's what another scenerio is:

              Rutgers wins out

USC loses to either UCLA or Cal, but beats ND

Arkansas loses another game then beats Florida in SEC Championship

              Notre Dame loses to USC

              Ohio State LOSES to Michigan...

Then Michigan would be #1 in the BCS at the end of the year and Rutgers would be #2.

Don't argue about OSU falling to 3, because they're already behind Rutgers in the computer polls, and with a Rutgers win at WV, and OSU having only beaten 1 ranked team all year, it would be a Rutgers-Michigan national championship.

Midwest bias is very apparent on this thread, but here goes:

Ohio State v. Michigan is an ELIMINATION game. No matter how close or exciting the game, it is, for all intents, a play-off game. Loser should be out of the national title picture.

As far as USC losing to the lowly Beavers, give them some respect. They nearly came all the way back (overcoming 4 turnovers) to lose by 2 points! A loss, it's true, but, not exactly a thumping. USC plays by far the toughest non-conference schedule out of the title contenders (@ Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame). IF they do run the table, they deserve a shot at the title.

People keep saying how good Michigan and Ohio State are. The Big 10 only has 3 ranked teams out of 11. Michigan and Ohio State have only really played Texas and Notre Dame in OOC, the rest of their OOC is a joke.

Ohio State hasn't beaten a team that's currently in the top 15.

                    Ohio State beat Illinois 17-0
                    Rutgers beat Illinois 33-0

Ohio State's strength of schedule is ranked 117 out of 119 teams. Rutgers is more than 30 spots in front of them.

While, I do agree w/you that OSU's strength of schedule has something to be desired, they did beat Texas (whom I believe are still in the top 15).

BCS should not reward teams for ducking tough competition. That's why Rutgers and Boise State (both unbeaten) don't have a serious chance at playing for the title.

CP for you because great minds think alike. I have been saying this to everyone in the office but you have to add... It will end up being a Huge disney movie

It is far fetch with Florida and arkansas but

It is only way it would really happen.

Mich. and Ohio can not play eachother after they play this Sat. for the championship. It is against the BCS thing.

If they are #1 and #2 #1 would play #3 etc.,

                        COME ON RUTGERS

                            Well for one, they're undefeated.

Louisville was still the 2nd best offense in the country, and Rutgers shut them down.

Texas hasn't been as good as advertised this year.

they defeated 1 good team which was missing their best player, #2 offense doesnt mean crap..the chiefs have had the #1 offense in the nfl several times and what has that earned them?...rutgers is taking advantage of a terrible confrence, if that "earns" them a title bid then best of luck taking on either mich or osu, both of which are heads above any team in the big east....the winner of the mich/osu game is the clear #1...after that the #2 spot is very foggy because alot of the contenders have lost atleast 1 very suspect game....ie. auburn, texas, usc

                              BRING IN A PLAYOFF SYSTEM!!!!!!
