  • CAL DT Mebane Looking Dominant

CAL DT Brandon Mebane has played a tremendous first-half against USC. He has a TFL for a safety and has the look of an NFL DT. He looks like his is cat quick and has a build in the 6'3"-305 range....he was a preseason pick to be a first round pick, but seems to have dropped, but having seen what he can do, I would be willing to bet he grades out well enough at the combine to be a solid second round pick.

In other notes, USC's DE, JR. Lawrence Jackson sure passes the eye-ball test as well. Dude looks like his is in the 6'6"-270 range with legit quickness from the edge.
All that remians is if he decides to go Pro, because if he does, I would have to think he will be a first round pick.

Just got back from the Great West championship so I haven't got to see, but I like Mebane. I have him as a guy who is late-second/early-third right now because he didn't have the senior campaign we expected. Lawrence Jackson has played like dirt all season long outside a game or two. He should not go pro.

I had actually selected Mebane in the 3rd (Washington's pick) in my mock I'm working on now...

i watched a little of the USC-cal game, and i would agree that mebane displayed very nice quickness for a guy his size. . . he looks to have the skills to be a solid interior pass rusher, something we could really use. . . i certainly haven't seen enough of their games to make any real judgement, and i don't know how he is against the run, but a penetrating DT would definitely be a nice addition to our rotation at the very least. . . .

Mebane reminds me of former Washington Husky 'Tank' Johnson, selected and now playing for Chicago, and he was a second-round pick.

I agree Jackson has had a disappointing season, but, damn he is am impressive physical specimen.

Quentin Moses has had an even more disappointing season and he is still expected to go top 10. I think Moses is overrated. In fact, I believe Jackson > Moses.

Moses is still very good, but Georgia was noticeably down this year.....but he will be a good Pro IMO.
