Longtime Air Force coach Fisher DeBerry is expected to resign on Friday after 23 seasons at the service academy.
The Gazette of Colorado Springs, Colo. first reported the story, citing a source with knowledge of the situation.
DeBerry, who has coached the Falcons for 23 seasons, would leave Air Force with three seasons remaining on his contract, the newspaper reported.
He has the winningest record in Air Force history, at 169-109-1 with 17 winning seasons. But his past three teams have posted losing records, and this year's team finished 4-8.
DeBerry, known for his team's triple-option offense, was national coach of the year in 1985, when the Falcons went 12-1 and finished ranked No. 8.
23 years is a loooong time
