  • Mountain West

I know these are not the hardest opponents, but the Mountain West sure is doing great so far in the bowl games. Out of the 2 games played so far, the Mountain West have beaten their opponents by a combined score of: 75-15.

    Poinsettia Bowl: TCU- 37
    Northern Illinois- 7
    Las Vegas Bowl: BYU- 38
    Oregon- 8
    Still left to be played:
Armed Forces Bowl: Utah vs. Tulsa
New Mexico Bowl: New Mexico vs. San Jose St.

I mean, look at these scores. BYU, the Mountain West Champs should get to play in a bigger and better bowl game then the Las Vegas Bowl. BYU did beat a team that once was ranked in the Top 15 in the nation at the begining of the year. IMO, I think that the MWC champ should be earning closer to a January Bowl Game.

BYU is the best team in the Country no one knew about.

Their RB, Cuurtis Brown, is one to keep an eye on for the Broncos as one of their famous mid-round picks.

I agree. He did great against Oregon, and they are a good team. I hope that he does good in the NFL, I always root for the MWC players.

I also don't hear anyone talking about they BYU QB John Beck. That just goes to show you how limited and biased National scouting is. Beck is going to be a very good Pro. He is big enough, and makes all the throws. He comes from an advanced Offense that will translate well to the NFL.

I also can't believe their HC Bronco Mendenhall is not getting consideration from other big jobs, like Alabama. Especially when you consider the success Urban Meyer has had coming from Utah.

Yep. Beck is awsome. And history proves that BYU can put out some good QB's.

But if you think about it, Professional scouts and other kind of scouts are different. I am pretty he will get drafted, and he should get his chance. I think that the Buccaneers should take a chance on him, but that is my opinion.

The Mountain West finished 3-1 in Bowl games, with a poorly played game by New Mexico, and a very good game by Utah. I think this year proves that the Mountain West deserves better bowl games then these.

BYU had a great year! They were full of talent! Iam a Mt West guy here, I was at the New Mexico Bowl, and I must say the Lobos should not of been in it! It was the first year of the bowl so I can see why they picked the Lobos, the crowd was good, and the whole Bowl experience! The Lobos can only play in the New Mexico Bowl once every three years so it was not made for them! Ok enough about that!

Back to the Mt. West! BYU would have made much more of an empact if it had not blown 2 games due to field goals, at ARI, and at BC. The conference overall had a down year! BYU was full of seniors and had an awsome year! BYU was it!

Utah played Tulsa, its Tulsa! New Mexico came back from 24 points down on the Utes i the second half!
TCU was supposed to have the big year but fell early! I am glad to see the Mt West do well in Bowl games, I am a hugh fan of the conference! Byu had a great year, Utah did when they went to the fiesta bowl(Went undefeated). But who else has done good? These teams would get crushed if they were placed with the big dogs!

They have not proven it yet! BYU is the only team this year that could of played with the big dogs! If they would have went undefeated they would of gotten a better bowl! But they didn't and thats the way college football is!

New coach at Air Force, CSU has been down,SDSU is bad, WYO is improving, UNLV is bad, UNM is young, TCU will compet, Utah will compet, BYU power this year!

3 teams are making this conference look good! They are on the way up but will never get any attention, espeacialy when no one can see the teams play! Due to the new deal with CSTV which in turn created the MTN network! Which only about 30% of people in New Mexico get, no one in Utah, no one in San Diego! How is this conference supposed to grown when recruits can't see games and even the fans can't see the games? There is a lot of room to grow but at this moment, I think that the Mt West Bowl ties are fine!
              Thanks WhiteDragon!

I think that BYU could contend with Boise State. Boise State was in a conference that wasn't much better, and maybe even worse. But they went undefeated and BYU did not, so that is only fair, I guess.

Mountain West has proved that it is the best mid-major, yet again. I would put them up there with the Big East. They are on the same level. The Big East has played easier competition in their bowl games. Being a Pac-10 fan, I think that the Mountain West deserves more national respect. Because if the Pac-10, MWC and WAC all get more national respect, it helps build these conference's credibility. I am tired of the East Coast is superior bull****.

I agree. That is a major reason why I am hoping that Nevada beats Miami tonight.

Of course I have to pipe up about this

                      1. Sort of...except BYU is 0-2 against Boise State, although their last meeting was a little close....as in too close for me...

                      2. Boise State should be in the Mountain West like they were supposed to be moved into two years ago... Of course we're better than those that stole our spot. Plus, it would give us a better reputation if we were playing schools like Utah, BYU and Colorado regularly.

and I'm so glad our opponents that made it to bowl games are winning! Go Nevada!!! the WAC doesn't look so cheesy after all I say... I mean, we have 4 teams in bowl games, two of which already won...and hopefully we'll go 4-0 in bowl games for the WAC. But it also makes Boise State look better because of all our opponents, 5 teams are in bowl games and 4 have won already!

                      Sweet.

                          ugh...

                          2003

                          and

                          2004

you'll notice we had a decisive 50-12 victory in 2003 and that narrow 28-27 victory in 2004....which was an amazing game to be at!!!

So yeah... I don't know if you didn't know they've played each other or you were trying to say it's been a while since they've played. If that's the case, then I think BSU is even better than they were in 2004...granted BYU is looking good, I still think Boise State would come out on top.

It would be a close game, and both teams have some big offensive weapons.

But hey, I am rooting for Boise State tomorrow night.
