But hey, I am rooting for Boise State tomorrow night.

Well I hope my boys gave you a show. And I'm sure it goes without saying that they did huh?

Yes, it may still be a good game between the two, since their last meeting was decided by one point and a missed field goal by BYU. The thing about that game was that they really only had one weapon, but our secondary couldn't contain him all night. Otherwise it would have been another 50-12 scenario.

Now I'm not so sure, after the Fiesta Bowl that BYU would put up much of a fight, however I wish we were able to play them every year, meaning we were in the Mountain West...where we belong, if not in the PAC-10... I guarantee BSU could fair rather well in the PAC-10. Especially since we don't have any problems with Oregon State, and we're playing Washington next year, and Oregon the year after that. Plus, if Hawaii can beat up on Arizona State, then we wouldn't have much of a problem either.

I'm hoping we proved that we deserve to be in a bigger conference.

You guys really do deserve to move to the Pac-10, but there are no current teams that really deserve to be kicked out of the Pac-10. But it would be pretty cool if Boise St. moved to the MWC. That would definetly make the MWC BCS bowl contenders every year.

True. I think maybe the only one would be the University of Arizona... you never hear about them. Even though Stanford sucked, I don't see them going anywhere. And the only other ones I can think of would be one of the Washington teams.

But in the MWC, I think they could make room for us, being that one of those spots is rightfully ours anyway. Either New Mexico or Wyoming? Hmmm. Or just add a spot.

Im thinking, just add a spot. Then we could split up into 2 divisions, and have a conference championship. IDK, just an idea. I think that would help change the MWC into a major conference, instead of just a lousy mid-major.

That would be neat. And it wouldn't exactly be anything unheard of. I mean, how many other conferences have two divisions? 3 or 4? The Big 12, ACC, SEC, and the Big 10? I can't remember.

Plus, at least there'd be some hype in there, you know with having a championship every year, then maybe the winner of the conference would end up in a respectable bowl game every year...or since the BCS was modified to allow for what happened with BSU this year, have it so whoever won the MWC Championship was eligable for a spot in the BCS if they were ranked high enough?

There would be ways to do it.

It is the Conference USA, not Big Ten.

Anyways, I agree. With everything you said there. I think that something will be done to modify the BCS and mid-majors ability to get into them.

Hey wow, I got most of them right haha. I wasn't really sure which ones had two divisions.

Anyway, I really hope so because now they have to look at this and say: Well, Not only did Utah (Mountain West) totally dominate Pittsburg in the 2005 Fiesta Bowl, but then here comes another mid-major from the WAC and outplays a team with multiple national titles and a huge reputation and wins the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.

Perhaps the mid-majors have some talent after all. So far they're 2-0 in BCS bowl games. Why not give them a shot every year? In fact, move BSU into Utah's division and make it really interesting. That way maybe we end up seeing Nevada, Hawaii or Fresno State in a big game down the road. After all Fresno State was ranked #8 in the nation the year Boise State beat them for the first time in Fresno. So it's not like the WAC hasn't been close before.

Okay, this plays out perfect actually. There are 9 teams in the MWC, and if you add Boise State, then that makes an even 10 teams. With the 10 teams, you split them up into two divisions of 5 teams. The North and the South.

                  North:
                  Boise State
                  Wyoming
                  Colorado State
                  Utah
                  Air Force

                  South:
                  TCU
                  BYU
                  New Mexico
                  San Diego State
                  UNLV

I don't know about you, but I think that this Conference looks like it could be a BCS conference every year.

In the Pac-10 they have a true rivals.
                    Arizona-ASU
                    Cal-Stanford
                    Oregon-Oregon State
                    USC-UCLA
                    Washington-Wazzu

Arizona went 6-6 (bowl eligible): Wins against Oregon, BYU and Cal. Losses against USC, LSU and Oregon State. They sold out every home game.

                    Arizona Stadium: 57,803
                    Bronco Stadium: 30,000

27,803 more fans go to Arizona football games than Boise State.

Not to mention Arizona has a premire basketball team that is always in the top 10, the other money getter.

Yeah, that's the other problem. I mean, I know and many others know that Boise State could compete in the PAC-10 but there's so much tradition and things would get messed up.

However, you don't have to be in the same conference to keep your rivalry alive. That wouldn't be a big deal at all.

There are many cross-conference rivalries out there.

And, Boise State is adding to their stadium. A Luxery/Press box to begin with and I believe there are future plans to close out both end zones. That would probably bring the capacity up to at least 45,000 if not more. It says the capacity is only 30,000 but we've fit more in there.

The issue would be money. Conferences like to make money, of course. I believe they'd make money with Boise State's football team. Our wrestling team is already part of the PAC-10 and I think our basketball program still needs a lot of work but could potentially get there with the proper recruiting.

I think you're right though. It has to be an all around thing, which is why I think we're still in the WAC because the only thing anyone knows about us is our football team. I think our girls basketball team fairs okay but still...

I'd just be happy with the MWC right now, especially if they did what BVP is proposing. I think that would be awesome! Not to mention add to the popularity the MWC would get.

                        About the rivalry games:
I think that some rivalry games are ok to be non-conference rivalries, like CU vs. CSU for example. But if the games are in conference, the meanings of the game are a lot bigger because it keeps the tradition alive and the records go on the conference record, which is the most important.

If you have ever seen a Rose Bowl, you will understand the tradition the Pac-10 has to college football.

Not to mention UCLA has dominated basketball for decades, recently Arizona and Washington have emerged onto the National scene. Right now the Pac-10 has the top RPI.

I think BVP has a good idea with the MWC/WAC. They both are the best mid-majors, often switching up on which one is the best. I think both the MWC and WAC need each other to survive. I think both leagues are fine and are on the up.

Besides, them being good at sports give credibility to the Pac-10 for scheduling teams from each of those respected conferences for non-conference games in all sports.
