So now a narrow win over Oklahoma means there good enough to be national champs?
Yeah right...try playing the toughest schedule out of all 119 teams, and then beating the #1 team.
Boise's a good story, just like Rutgers....but they're NOT the national champs.
They hurt themselves badly with scheduling.Administrator

Oh, don't get me wrong, I completely agree.
College football may need a few playoff systems, with a combination of the BCS for the one worth everything, and then consolation tournies for others.
But to say that Boise State is the national champions is preposterous.Administrator

Originally posted by Calif. BroncoTotally disagree - they have total control over their non-conference schedule. Even if the elite teams wouldn't play them, which I question, they could have at least scheduled mid-level teams. Instead, they chose to schedule the likes of Sacramento State and therefore got what they deserved under the current system, IMHO.
Too soon, D-Will, too soon.

I guess we'll never hear the end of this.
Even once we've proven that we belong (I think long before this year) you naysayers just don't want to admit that the big boys may just include Boise State, or that the current big boys might not be able to beat Boise State.
The way Ohio State looked last night...I'd say they probably wouldn't have lasted a quarter against Boise State, or better yet, Oklahoma....
And to you who said we barely beat Oklahoma.
Did you watch the entire game? Because I'm pretty sure we dominated the ENTIRE game. Just because they came back doesn't mean we barely squeeked it out. They were the ones that nearly upset US....not the other way around.
28-10 in the 4th quarter is not what people call "squeeking out a win"
And about scheduling: No, we don't really control scheduling. If we did, we'd be playing USC, LSU, Florida, Louisville etc every year. But since we're in the WAC and we live in Idaho, we get screwed. Plus, the person that said big schools don't want to play us is right. They don't want to "waste" time playing "little guys" because we don't make them any money. Or they're afraid they'll get beat by the "little guy" and then they'd be out of the national championship race...awww.
So stop making excuses... The cold fact is that your big teams are going to have to face Boise States, Utahs, Hawaiis, Fresno States, Rutgers', Wake Forests and other mid-major schools because the fact is that sometimes they actually have more talent than the big dogs.
I wonder how the big and mighty Miami Hurricanes ended up 6-6 and in the MPC Bowl.... Hmmm and then they almost lost to Nevada.
So don't keep this up. Boise State won the Fiesta Bowl. We know you all don't like that, we know you all don't think or want to admit that we're the ONLY undefeated team left...but tough...we are and we didn't get there because we played "cupcake" teams.
Last I checked of the 12 schools we played this season, 6 of them were in bowl games and as I recall....only Nevada lost....and by 1.
So stop all this crap about how we don't belong and how we play weanie teams and all this....because we do belong and we play teams that can compete...so just deal.
The fact that all of you can't figure this out is...as one of you said: preposterous.
13-0.... and we're the only ones. I'm not saying we should be number one...but I definitely think we would have given Ohio State a run for their money, if not beat them. Especially after seeing that ugly performance.
Now. Kudos to Florida. They deserve it, they showed up, they proved they should be there over Michigan and that's awesome.
So maybe the final polls, if all were fair in the world (which, obviously the BCS isn't) should look like this:
1. Florida
2. Boise State
3. Ohio State
4. LSU
5. USC...
etc.....Last edited by RealBronco; 01-09-2007, 02:38 PM.sigpic

Don't you think that it means we do deserve it? We didn't need a playoff system to get where we are right now...
So what exactly are you talking about?
We didn't say there needed to be a playoff. Perhaps if there were, then you'd be complaining about how we'd possibly be playing Florida, God forbid...
I don't think it matters what system there is, the unbelievers will always find excuses for why their big, bad, prestige-loaded, several-time national championship teams keep losing to the likes of Boise State, Utah, Hawaii, Rutgers and Wake Forest etc.sigpic

Thats entirely un-true.
Most teams would be happy to play a Boise-State....they have a lot to gain (beating a better team,) against a weak conference team...that's a lot to gain.
They REALLY ruined their shot at a title with their schedule...Administrator
