Quite a bit more than 2 good teams. There are probably 6 to 7 that on any given Saturday could beat the other one. In fact, these days except for the two Mississippi teams and Vandy they all beat up on each other. Vandy, by the way, lost to Florida 19-26.

I missed the opening kickoff of the game the other nite. I came in and saw Florida score two quick TDs, watched their defensive line run down the "Heisman", and headed upstairs. My son asked me where I was going. I told him it would not be a game. Florida's team speed was way too much for Ohio State. Florida doesn't even have the most talent in the league. That belongs to LSU. Georgia though slumping in midseason came back strong also.

I don't know Wildcat. It would have been a great game though. Both teams that year had great offenses and no defense. It would probably have been first team to 100 wins!!

Some of you need to pump up cutler so bad you stretch it to this. Amazing
If your asking how many Vandy players or starters the 2006 team lost from the 2005 team the answer I believe was 5 total offensively and defensively.

JR, no one needs to pump up Jay Cutler. I don't know many quarterbacks in the league over the years that can get the ball in the tight spots like Cutler can. You claim he will start to get intercepted. I claim give him a little more experience and there are going to be some awfully upset defenses talking to themselves.

          --- What ? ---

          --- Let's see here ---

          --- Florida Gators = SEC
          --- Florida Gators = National #1

          --- Vandy = SEC
          --- Cutler = #1 ?

--- What kind of stretch of the imagination is this non-logic ?

--- Jay Cutler will be a fine NFL QB one day, however Vandy and Mississippi State will always be perrennial celler dwellers of the SEC ---

--- Vandy is a very fine academic institution, one of the best, but will never be an SEC football powerhouse ---

--- Jay Cutler was the only football player from Vandy to compete at the combine last year ---

--- Jay Cutler is now the starting QB for the Denver Broncos, cutlerfan !

--- Why are you still trying to convince yourself ?

          .
I think the bigger question is why do you keep trying to convince yourself he isn't?

So yeah, if they played like that, there probably are about five SEC schools that could beat them. There are also about five Big Ten schools that could beat them.

But that's not the point. The point is that someone actually said Vanderbilt would have been 10-2 in the Big Ten last year. That's not just wrong; it's hilarious!
No excuse for not being ready for a National Championship game.

I think one reason why is because the conference can't count how many teams it has, and there is also a problem with spelling around the league.

Troy St has been in the bigs only a handful of years, and they're already in the bowl games.....says volumes of vandy......

..and it's a good thing colleges are intended for degrees.......
Sure is. That is why they use the term "STUDENT-athlete". FYI, the football players at Vandy have to stay in school using Vanderbilt standards and not the tremendously lenient levels of the NCAA. So your right. It does say a lot for Vandy. Players from other teams will be cleaning the Vandy players future offices in about 10 years.

You still haven't told me what branch of the military you were in.

Wisconsin a one loss team just "trampled" Arkansas a 3 game loser in the SEC. Just for the sake of it Vandy lost to Arkansas 19-21.

This statement gives props to Jay, props to Vanderbilt as a pillar of academia, and also points out that Vandy and MSU are inferior SEC football programs.

cutlerfan claims that since Florida beat OSU, the SEC is the best conference, and if Vandy and Cutler were in the Big 10, Vandy would have been 10-2 each year instead of never even going to a bowl game during Jay's 4 year tenure as the Commodore's QB.

Then he proceeds to trumpet Jay's numbers against a 2005 Florida team --- ???

--- vandyman53, judging by your past posts, I would say that even you would concur that cutlerfan's hypothesis is very warped ---

--- Yes, Jay is a great talent.

--- That is why the Broncos picked him in the draft.

--- I have supported Jay since the day he put on a Broncos jersey.

--- I was rooting for Jay all the way through to the end of the Broncos' season, right up to the last gasp in the second possession in OT against the 49ers.

                    --- That's what I do.

                    --- I am a Broncos fan.

Of course there's no excuse for it. But it happened.

As for the hypothetical 2005 NU-Vandy game, it would likely have been a shootout, but only one of those teams had a running game to go with their passing attack.
