p.s. conrad, csu will never be a top 25 team again. so plz don't get your hopes up. the coach that takes over after lubick will be a downgrade in both reputation and coaching ability
To look into CSU's future in football you must look past the coaching staff. We have a new athletic director that is already making leaps and bounds for the program. He put the heat on the coaching staff after last year and we made some changes there.

CSU will have a former offensive coordinator calling the shots and I expect our offense to be much more explosive as we will use all our weapons.

CSU is breaking ground on a new indoor practice facility to be ready next year and the new AD is doing a great job in getting the city of Fort Collins behind the rams.

Panda, as much as you'd like to see CSU sink further....not going to happen- we are going nowhere but up. Starting by dismantling CU again 31-14

Why did Mc'D get rid of Hillis?

Conrad, you are correct with your past statement. Our new AD is gonna help turn this Rams team back into a conference contender once again. In a year or two, you should expect to see CSU back on top of the MWC once again.

Well, CU just took a pretty big hit with the suspension of Sipili. Now ILB depth is a pretty big ? and this could definitely play to Kyle Bell's advantage.

CU just can't get out of their own way.

Up until a couple day's ago Conrads prediction of Bell going for 150 in his first game back against a pretty good run defense would've been a stretch.

CU's depth is such that one player missing any extended time could be huge!

I don't really care if Bell gets 150....Hell! I don't really care about little sisters CSU....I'm just looking forward to a rebound season.

Little CSU better kick 'em when they're down, because "this is division I football, brother". And Hawk is bringing 'em back.

Btw, Gates isn't going to be with the team til 08. That hurts.....

Yep, that really hurts. They really could have used him this year. Everything I've read indicates that Hugh is a lot more comfortable in this system though. I'm hoping that Hugh, Robinson, and Sprague can all have rebound seasons. We'll see what happens.

I'm optimistic, but its tough after a 2-10 season.

I honestly have no idea what to expect out of the Buffs this year...

              Too many question marks...

--How will little Hawk run the offense? (I'm operating under the assumption he's gonna get the nod at QB)

--Can Hugh Charles and Terrence Wheatley finally live up to expectations and stay healthy in the process??

--Can we get off the field on 3rd down?

--How huge will our dropoff be at kicker?

              ...

If I ventured a guess at those questions it would be as follows: Cody Hawkins knows the offense inside and out, and while he's not as good of an all-around athlete as Bernard Jackson is, he is a better pure-passer and just making the right decisions and knowing where to go with the ball will be a HUGE improvement from last year.

I have my doubts as to whether Wheatley and Charles have the frames to stay healthy for a whole season-- but I think that they should at least be healthy for the CSU game, which is a definite + for the Buffs. They are among the fastest players on the team, and are huge assets when healthy.

3rd down was a nightmare last season... I hope and pray the coaching staff addresses that during camp. It's hard to imagine them being much worse in that regard.

CU may never see a kicker with the leg that Crosby possessed. I believe Eberhart is slated to be the kicker this year, but don't quote me on that... Whoever it is, just don't let us go back to the days of Pat Broughm (sp?) and 4 missed FGs in a Big 12 Championship game...

              ...

The moral of the story is that I don't know what to expect... But I do expect to see an improved football team on the field-- and I think that will translate into another close football game.

                I'm with you...

Sprague needs to step up and be a big play possession receiver. He doesn't have blazing speed, so he's got to find a way to come up with big catches in traffic. The kind of hands CU has been missing at the WR position since the departure of DJ Hackett and Derek McCoy.

I've never had a favorable opinion of Robison. The guy strikes me as a track star who never has his head in the game and is always the first player to make the big mistake... Can't hold onto the ball, not a disciplined route runner, not very reliable hands... But he's fast, and since Barnett's recruiting was lacking in his final years, we have no alternative... All I know is that if we see the same crap from Robinson this year, we ought to let him become acquainted with the bench early and often.

See post above for thoughts on Hugh. Has all the potential in the world, just needs to stay healthy, and needs to prove he can finish (a run, a game, a seaon).

For some strange reason i think Patrick Williams is going to be the answer of our WR questions this year..

I'd love to see that... He's shown some flashes of being a good player, but he's also been pretty inconsistant.

Don't we have an incoming freshman or two that should compete for a WR spot?? Does anyone know anything about them?

AT COLORADO: This Season (Fr.)—Projected as a wide receiver for his true freshman year in college.

HIGH SCHOOL—As a senior, he was an All-Southwest team performer by SuperPrep, which ranked him as the No. 23 player in the state of Louisiana (the fifth wide receiver). A three-year letterman in football, he was named first-team All-State, All-Central Louisiana, All-District and All-Parrish as a senior. He lettered four times in track, as he was the Parrish and district champion in the 100-meter run and was second in the region (10.6 is his best time) as a junior, when his 4 x 100 relay team also won Parrish and District titles.

He had a 48-yard touchdown reception and a 50-yard punt return in the first half of a 40-0 win over Newberry Park. Under coach Tim Lins, Moorpark finished 12-3 both his junior and senior seasons, losing in the championship game each occasion. He also lettered three times in track (sprints, relays and jumps); he ran in the 4x100 relay and holds the school record for the long jump—his 23-0 distance came in his first-ever meet after he coached himself.

As a junior, his team went 9-2-1 and advanced to the state semifinals, and as a sophomore, they were 8-4 and made it to the quarterfinals. He also lettered three times in basketball, and was named first-team All-Eastern League his sophomore and junior seasons.

Yes he was. I was really excited when he chose the Buffs.

Celestine and J. Smith were 3 star recruits. Celestine is supposed to have a bunch of speed but Simas is the most college ready at this point. If anyone is going to make an impact as a Freshman WR this year, it will likely be him.

By the way, J. Smith is the uncle of highly regarded 5 star prospect Darrell Scott, rated by rivals.com as the number 2 prospect in the country. CU as good a chance as anybody at landing a commitment from him.

This is Sweet!!! we're talking college football again ...

This is exactly what I was eluding to, are these guys considering CSU at all? I dont think so, we should be on a completely different level...

Patrick Williams did stand out at the Spring game, but I still dont trust him..the guy I did trust was Blake Mackey, but he never got playing time, I didn't understand why... Our TEs should be key for this offense to be successful..

Oh, by the way, CU is having a scrimmage August 18th, 10:30am, anybody going? I think I might be going to this, its suppose to be for "season ticket" holders only..but I dont think they will validate that...
fight u dwn the fied..cu must win.. fight fight fr Victoy..cu knows no defet! so roll up the mighty score, Never Give in!!...shouler to shulder we will FIGHT..FIGHT ... FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!

bah, i'm not too worried about sipili being suspended. as long as cabral is our linebackers coach, we will never have to worry about them. bell is not going to rush for 150 yards. he's coming off a very bad injury and we have a very good rush defense.
it is bad that gates isn't ready to come in but at least he is still comitted to the buffs (i was worried that he would transfer to a different team that would let him play in 07). but next year if we get scott and gates, can you imagine how good our running game will be?
i'm not very optimistic about williams. this is like the third straight year he's torn it up in camp but last two years he didn't do anything during games
