  • First To Say...

Most of you probably wouldn't expect this from me, however given Boise State's relatively easy schedule this year, I doubt the polls will be kind to them.

I mean, Weber State was basically a freaking scrimmage for us and the only real opponents I'm worried about this year are Washington next week and then Hawaii at the end of the season. Maybe someone else will surprise, but I doubt it. We basically got crap opponents this year and none of them will help us rise in the ranks. I'm a little upset.

What I'm more upset about is that Idaho gets to play USC, which obviously puts the end to that whole theory that teams like USC wouldn't waste their time playing schools like Boise State because of money and yadda yadda yadda, because U of I is a piece of crap school, with a horrible football program. Maybe U of I is USC's Weber State, that little warm up game that will be easy to win to get their spirits up.

That makes three WAC teams that have gotten to face USC and now that they're playing U of I they have zero excuse as to why they won't play Boise State.

Anyway, I digress. My point is, I'm pretty much going to be surprised if we're not undefeated by the time we face Hawaii. I really hope Hawaii stays unbeaten as well. It should be a great showdown.

I'm disappointed because I'm foreseeing that BSU won't get another much deserved bowl game as high as the Fiesta Bowl because of this weak schedule we're playing. I guess we'll have to wait until we play Oregon next year...bah.

I don't know how this years schedule is so much worse from last years. You have the cup cake opner, Pac-10 team and Southern Miss. I guess I am not seeing were last years schedule was so much more then this years?

Has BSU tried to set up a game with USC? Has the athletic director contacted USC?
    Thanks WhiteDragon!

for starters, last year we slaughtered one of two team's that beat USC...I only use USC as a reference so much because they're #1 and everyone is on their bandwagon. anyway, playing and beating Oregon State last year automatically makes last year's schedule better given what OSU did.

unless Washington upsets USC or some other huge school, we've got less this year. and i really think Hawaii is getting hyped more than they're worth. they have one weapon...that's it.

and i have mentioned before how some time ago Carroll said he didn't want to play BSU... and everyone was all over me about the money issue and USC not wanting to waste their time with us...blah blah blah. and i'm only saying that argument is put to rest now because U of I is the epitome of a crap school... they're damn stadium doesn't even hold the population of my home town which is about 2,500...

and i don't know if we've tried to set up a game... i don't see why they wouldn't. both Hawkins and Peterson always say that they will play anyone. it's just the context of the thing. Fresno, Hawaii and now Idaho have gotten their shots.

but you missed my whole point. my point was that this year is probably going to be a huge chasm of nothing major happening for us because we play no one that will help us rise in the poles. but that's how it's always been i guess. and somehow we show up.

oh yeah, i forgot. we played Utah last year. they were supposed to be pretty good. not to mention they had won the Fiesta Bowl two seasons before that. so with OSU, and Utah both on last year's, that made last year a better schedule.

I get what you are saying.

Idaho got the game becuse the defensive coordinator at USC was the head coach at Idaho 2 years ago.

All I was saying is that BSU has set up the same type of schedule as last year. In no way did anyone expect OSU to beat USC, which helped BSU's strength of schedule. And yes UTAH won 2 season before wit ha whole different staff and #1 pick in the draft, not when you played them.

The schedules are usually set at least 2 years ahead of time, who knows if BSU will decide to bulk it up.

Maybe the game in Athens a few years back is scaring them from doing that.

screw USC! heck there running back coach fights dogs like vick! they should try and schedule teams like nebraska or replay oklahoma! boise state is a real contender even though there opponents suck except for hawaii.

no they aren't a real contendor and you should be complaining to your athletic director for scheduling division 3 out of conference games every year instead of acting silly and boasting that every school in the country is afraid of you. if you scheduled four decent out of conference teams a year then you would be respected by other teams. if usc doesn't want to play you, find someone else that does, there are like 30 teams out there that would make your out of conference schedule look respectable if you played them. i can guarantee that you will find at least a few who are willing to play mighty boise state despite the fact that they are terrified they would get rolled by at least 200 points

I would love to see Bosie and Hawaii undefeated when they play also, but the big boys in the conference need to start scheduling some ranked teams to get some credit for there undefeated seasons. I mean if I have to hear one more Bosie fan complain about not playing for a national championship I think I'm gonna jump out my damn window.

you must be a sooners fan. heheheh.

you really know how to not read comments correctly. i never said every school is afraid of us. i mentioned one team... that's it. i don't know what Carroll's problem is. i only bring them up because they always seem to be #1. Frankly i don't care who we play as long as they start getting people like Georgia again, or Oklahoma. Heck, I'm fine with getting to play Oregon next year for a start.

and it's nice to see you recognize the scoring abilities of Boise State....hehehe. because i didn't mention anything about rolling teams by 200 points either. mind you, we only won the Fiesta Bowl by 1 point. but don't even get me started with all that crap.

i'm just tired of seeing us play crap teams like sac state or weber state, blah blah blah. we're trying to prove all this stuff to a still unbelieving population, and yet we don't go out and "prove it" because no one sees our opponents as scary, and rightly so.

i don't complain. we've won 14 in a row, what's there to complain about? and before two seasons ago, our winning streak was in the late 20's. trust me, i don't complain.

but now we really are a "big boy" so it's time to start playing more than one opponent our age a year. that's all i'm sayin'

lol. given who everyone said was a shoe in to win the NC last year, i would've loved to see it. but i'm happy with where we ended up. i think we deserved to be pre-season ranked a little higher, especially higher than hawaii, but i can understand why, i mean they must've factored in that we lost 22 seniors...so...understandable.

based on Ohio State's performance in the NC i changed my mind about playing them and thought we probably could have at least held our own. doubt we would've won, but i don't think it would have been a blowout either.

florida would've rolled us on the other hand. a team like Boise State has to keep being smart and taking things a little at a time, and then eventually maybe we end up like the old BYU, who has a NC under their belt and churned out multiple NFL stars, including Young...

Baby steps, man....this is only the uh...i think 6th year of our giant turn in fortune...and in the long run, that's still pretty young.
