  • Ben Rothisberger reminds me of Elway Style wise.

I know it might not be popular here but
Ben Rothisberger has a little John Elway in him, style wise as
    a QB

He is strong, very mobile and throws excellent on the run.
Maybe not as fast of a runner but still does a lot of the same
    things.

Elway is my favorite player of all time with TD and Ed McCaff being close second and third etc. This is a huge compliment to Big Ben from me.

now Im gonna get flamed to the hills but so what.
this is an opinon not gospel.

I've always thought Ben was over rated and not a very good QB.
But after watching last nights game I'm changing my opinion on him and I think that he will be inducted to Canton shortly.

btw: You misspelled his name like crazy.

I thought I heard somewhere that he wears #7 because he always liked Elway

I don't think that he's quite got the same cannon, btu I said as much during the game against us a couple of weeks back

No offence dude but if #7 the Mile High god. is your Favorite player of all time dont insult him. Big ben is a great QB in his own ways. But he is not Elway. Elways pocket pressence, Strong arm, lacer fast release, And above all Heart of a true champion are no qualitis ben has yet. Now i think our young gun is closer to thoes qualitys already and so more then 80% of sports writers in the NFL. And yes that will be #6 Jay Cutler

Its okay....I just like to discuss topics etc.

I like Bens toughness and his ability to make something of nothing

I also said style wise not exactly the same...and Ben will probably
never reach Elways level....but remember he is in his 4th NFL season
and his career is far from done....

Cutler is right now a miles behind Ben in development (the team around you has a lot to do with that) ..He makes so many of the off the back throw things that he needs to correct etc..in the long run I think

the stupid pick per most games, aggravates me to no end still.

he will be good but for now...he is just an inconsistent 2nd year player ...

He somewhat reminds me of Elway, but nothing close when it comes to being smart and have a cannon for an arm. Elway was never dumb enough to go motorcycling with-out a helmet. But one thing Ben has that Elway never had was a great running back to take him over the top in his early career. If Elway had had TD earlier in his career, can you say 5 or 6 Super Bowls. LOL wishful thinking.

Elway was far from a perfect QB in his early days IMO

His real big days did not start until 1987 and then for good in 1993 when
Dan Reeves stopped suffocating his creativity.
he was always clutch however in the whole career for the most part.

If you look at his stats with Reeves and without Reeves its mind boggling

look at the TD ratios when Reeves was gone,
his 5 best TD seasons came after Dan left and he got better in the decision making dept with age.

I watched Pitt vs Cleveland today
and Big Ben made some more Elway type plays with his
feet and throws on the run.

Now as I reiterate, Ben is not as good as Elway Talent wise
especially arm strengtt. but boy does he emprovise
like him shows heart and guts and determination

I love his style. Yes I know some people will
disagree but I enjoy how he shows
                  heart and guts.

                  ready to be flamed

                    I still Hate Ben
                    But he is impressive.
I've been saying he is nothing special.

Hes off to a good year. I'm still pissed at him for beating us a few years ago.

I can see in Ben some of the same traits that made John great, but don't think he'll put up some of the numbers John did.......but like everything else I'm probably wrong on that.....

                      PEACE!!!

If you start with the team it pretty much ends there. Ben has a good running game, and two very talented recievers. Athleticly, Elway was a better runner, but Ben is bigger, and tougher to bring down. John had a better arm, no doubt, but Ben is good on the run. The biggest diference, is that Elway performed his best when he absolutely needed to. You don't see that out of a lot of QB's these days. I don't think Ben is, or ever will be, as good as Elway, but he's good enough to get the Steelers one or two more Superbowl births.

I like RottenBergers better than Manning or Brady, because he's an old school type of quarterback. Manning and Brady's rediculous numbers are more of a byproduct of both the modern passing oriented NFL and their respective teams. I think if you plug Ben into a team back in the 80's he'd get the job done. We've seen what happens to Peyton when you chuck his WR's and beat his OL, and Brady (no doubt he's good), but his team right now is just stupid. You can't cover Randy Moss one on one to begin with, let alone do it without touching him. Throw Stallworth and Welker into the fray, and give Brady all day to throw. That's just not going to work. I don't care if you have Laurence Taylor, Deion Sanders, Ronnie Lott, and Reggie White. In todays NFL, you can't stop that.

good respectful post. I like that

great points and I do agree with them

I just see Ben running around making plays to help his team win and in the last few weeks has elevated his game to new heights. etc.

I would love for Pitt to win the Super Bowl as it would mean that they would beat possibly Indy and NE to do so. That would be a hoot

if and its a BIG if they get Ne on a windy day where you cant throw the ball long, you never know what can happen in a game.... I still think NE is clearly the best right now but right now is November 14 what will happen in Jan when it counts. If you told me last year after the Colts got gashed vs the Jags regular season 41-17 and would win the Super Bowl I would have though you were crazy.. so much I know lol

I think you shouldn't get flamed for having an opinion. He does wear #7 for Elway, I read it somewhere too. He does have a lot of Elway-esque ability but he doesnt have the cannon, and there is nothing wrong with that, he gets W's for his team, nothing else matters right? U can hate em if u want but he is on the incline right now.
