  • ESPN Live guys both pick the Chargers over the Colts?

While not surprising to hear the "analysts" pick against Denver this weekend, I was rather surprised to hear the first two predictions go with the Chargers over the Colts.

Weren't the Colts considered one of the two elite teams before this past weekend? Aren't the Chargers a whopping 4-4 and just got killed by a team without a quarterback? Don't the Colts have an amazingly balanced offense and a much improved defense?

The Colts have the #3 overall offense and #5 overall defense. The Chargers have the #21 overall offense and #25 overall defense. LT has not been himself and Rivers is underperforming. The Colts are still the Colts but with a better defense this year.

I know anything can happen ("Any Given Sunday" and all that) but it would seem to me that this game should be an easy pick going with the Colts.

Do you think the "analysts" are still too infatuated with the 2006 team and all of LT's TDs or what? Did they forget that Norv Turner is now their coach?

The game being in San Diego probably has something to do with it to.
I still think and hope the Colts will beat them.

But maybe they are figuring after a tough game vs the Pats that they could be drained and might have a let up game vs the Chargers. Plus the Chargers usually play the Colts tough as well.

It is shocking that they both picked them though.
But do we ever take anything they say seriously?

Addaii should run all over them just like AP did. Lets see if Rivers continues to struggle with 8 in the box.

Yeah they are infatuated with last seasons team, those are the so-called expert analysts for you. Colts should win this one definitely, I mean they're the second best team in the NFL. The Chargers on the other hand are struggling.

Making team signature bars, just drop me a PM. :salute:

I think the Chargers have a good chance of winning this game. With Clark, Gonzalez, Harrison out plus I don't think Addai will run on the Chargers defense like Peterson did. SD is at home then again didn't KC lay the wood to the Chargers at Quallcomm. I hope the Chargers lose but Indy's not goingin there with full firepower!

That is the reason the so called experts are going with San Diego. With 3/4 of Mannings top receivers down,it will leave the Colts with just the running game. You throw in home turf, and the fact the Colts just finished a brutal game with the Pats ending in a tough loss, good ingredients for an upset. However, who knows what Charger team will show up. They definitely are a lot better than what you've seen this year. They are a very perplexing team to bet on if I was a gambling man.

How are they a lot better team than we've seen this year? It seems to me they're pretty much a 4-4 team, inconsistent to say the least.

A lot of people seem to disregard the massive change in their coaching staff this offseason. Yes, the Chargers have a lot of talent. But talent isn't enough and they need good coaching, too. I would hazard to say they are a talented team with questionable coaching which kind of adds up to overall mediocrity.

It'll be interesting to see if the Chargers get better in the second half of the season or remain what they've looked like through an entire half of the season.

In the meantime, I agree that the Colts' injuries could be a cause for some "analysts" to be picking San Diego. But I know some of their questionable players are only questionable and some will likely still play in this game.

i think the chargers stack up nearly perfectly against the colts. strong D, good running game. they usually put a very effective blitz on manning and force mistakes. we will see though cause LT just hasnt been himself

I was thinking the same thing. Despite their inconsistant play, they do match up well with them. I think and want the Colts to win this game, yet I think it will be a close game. However, if they can't pressure Manning then they are in for a long night.

Sucks being right! Colts didn't come to play and Chargers taking advantage! The Chargers are almost a Jekyll and Hyde team, one Sunday they look unbeatable and the next they look like a bottom tier team!

Well, like I said in the original post: Anything can happpen...

Just like the Chargers could have two first half kick / punt returns for TD, Manning throwing 6 INTs, and the supposed best kicker in the game missing two chipshot field goals and causing the Colts to lose by 2 points.

The Colts are clearly a better team than the Chargers and it took every bad break in the world for the Colts to lose. And with the AFC West division lead riding on it for the Chargers. Sickening.

Yeah.. that was a pathetic win. Is there still any dolt fans giving US a hard time about our wins after THAT debacle??? The Indy colts looked like they had their pre-season squad on the field tonight, and continued to lose more starters as the game went along.

I mean... did everyone else notice how the 3rd string LT handled Merriman with no problem? Seems Merriman has lost his edge... I wonder what that edge was??

Anyway... the AFC West is pretty sad.
