  • Ricky Williams to be on Pros vs Joes

His NFL season lasted only six plays, but playing for the Miami Dolphins wasn't Ricky Williams' only athletic highlight in 2007.

Williams will be one of the participants in the upcoming season of Pros vs. Joes on Spike TV, FOXSports.com has learned. The 10-episode show pits boisterous sports fans against retired stars in athletic competitions. The winning fan receives what Spike is touting as a "six-figure cash prize."

Williams became the first active player to participate in the series. Dressed in a blue-and-white uniform, Williams runs through a cone-marked lane while "Joes" try to tackle him before he reaches the end zone. One participant named Ray was steamrolled after meeting Williams head-on. A smile was visible under the running back's helmet as the "Joe" struggled to his feet and on-lookers laughed.

Williams filmed his segment in October, one month prior to being reinstated by the NFL after an 18-month drug suspension. Williams returned to the Dolphins but suffered a torn pectoral muscle in his first game back against Pittsburgh and was placed on injured reserve.

The Dolphins recently exercised a one-year contract option on Williams but he isn't guaranteed a spot on the 2008 roster. Once regarded as one of the NFL's top players, Williams has missed 51 games since the 2004 season because of drug suspensions and a one-year retirement.

Pros vs. Joes debuts at 11 p.m. ET on January 23 and will air regularly at 11 p.m. ET on Thursdays starting January 24. Williams' segment is slated to air January 31.

Other athletes featured include Warren Moon (football), Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker (boxing), Joe Carter (baseball) and Derrick Coleman (basketball

Its too bad all that talent was wasted. He could've been one of the greats.
2 of the top 3 NFL QBs of all time have been Broncos
