No worries...and I would not say it is "false" information; you just jumped the gun a little bit. Per the post // / yardo made from the associated press there is still an outside chance they did not come to an agreement with Moss and he is a Free Agent (however that is very unlikely).

Either way your post did generate some excitement…

    It's alright.

You probably hit it directly on the head what they were doing, so speculation kinda went out the window.

The whole "they aren't going to resign him" thing just didn't sound right.

They've probably already agreed to some kind of deal by now.

Here's another story from the Associated Press:

Moss not designated franchise player by New England

    The Associated Press
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. | The New England Patriots did not designate Randy Moss as a franchise player Thursday, meaning they may have reached a contract agreement with the wide receiver or are allowing him to become a free agent.

Teams had until 4 p.m. to designate one player as a franchise player if they wished. Only 11 teams did that, not including the Patriots. If Moss and the Patriots have agreed to a multiyear contract, it cannot be announced until Feb. 29.

An exclusive franchise player cannot sign with another club and is offered a minimum of the average of the top five salaries at the player's position as of April 20, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater.

A "non-exclusive" franchise player can get an offer sheet from another club but his team can match it. If it doesn't, it would receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.

After taking a pay cut when he was traded by Oakland to New England last April, Moss had an outstanding season. He set the NFL record with 23 touchdown catches in a season and totaled 98 receptions for 1,493 yards.

He repeatedly has praised quarterback Tom Brady, who has said he wants Moss back.

Last year the Patriots designated cornerback Asante Samuel as a franchise player but agreed not to do it again this year.

    ------------------

This could go either way. The only thing that's definite is he wasn't "franchised" by the team.

Week 14? Since when did the schedule come out?
I dont think we will know the week we play them until March or April anyways.

But Tom Brady said last month that whereever Moss goes, he goes.

I don't know if that's the EXACT story. This is pretty much the only recent news I can find on Moss.

Patriots do not tag Moss, but hope to re-sign him

    By John Clayton
    ESPN.com

The New England Patriots did not place their franchise tag on wide receiver Randy Moss on Thursday, technically leaving Moss open to free agency on Feb. 29.

The Patriots are apparently gambling that they could come to terms with Moss on a new contract so he can remain with the team.

Moss restructured his contract, dropping his base salary from $10 million to $3 million, to accommodate last April's trade from the Oakland Raiders to the Patriots. Moss earned an additional $2 million on incentives after breaking Jerry Rice's single-season record with 23 touchdown receptions.

Quarterback Tom Brady has indicated he wants Moss to return, and Moss has talked all season long about how much he liked playing for the Patriots.

Also at the deadline Thursday for NFL teams to franchise players, the Dallas Cowboys placed their tag on safety Ken Hamlin instead of left tackle Flozell Adams.

Hamlin received a one-year tender of $4.396 million. If a team tries to sign him, the Cowboys would have seven days to match an offer. The signing team then would have to surrender two-first-round picks to get Hamlin.

    --------------

Remember he expressed interest in remaining a Patriot but as we all know, "money talks." I still see him signing a contract with them and taking another shot at the Super Bowl.

Are you serious. I don't believe it!

I thought for sure he would have stayed a patriot. Sure he did not get a ring but he would have continued to do a lot of damage on the O.

He said he wanted to stay without breaking the Pats bank.

I really hope he does not go to the Cow Boys.

I going to guess that resigning Samuel is their #1 priority. As it probably should be.

if we had the cap we would consider it, but he is way out of our league right now.
