  • Plummer Grievance Hearing To Be Held This Month

The Bucs and Broncos have filed three grievances against quarterback Jake Plummer over the last year. The long-awaited grievance hearing is expected to be held later this month. The Bucs are attempting to recover up to $7 million worth of bonus money Plummer received while playing in Denver.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

It appears as though the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are no longer attempting to convince quarterback Jake Plummer to play football again. They are, however, still trying to make him pay for not playing for the Bucs.

The Buccaneers and Broncos have filed three joint grievances against Plummer, 33, over the last year due to Plummer's decision to retire unilaterally shortly after Tampa Bay traded a 2008 seventh-round draft pick to Denver in exchange for Plummer during the 2007 offseason.

The Bucs will be attempting to have Plummer pay as much as $7 million in bonus money he received while playing for Denver.

While the date, place and time have yet to be set, the grievance hearing is expected to be held later this month.

Tampa Bay has attempted to lure Plummer out of retirement several times, but to no avail. Bucs head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen went as far as flying to Idaho to meet with Plummer last summer, but the quarterback couldn't be convinced to play football again.

The Bucs currently have six quarterbacks - Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, Luke McCown, Chris Simms, Josh Johnson and Plummer - on their roster. The Bucs released QB Bruce Gradkowski last week.

Plummer, who has three years remaining on his contract, completed 57.1 percent of his career passes for 29,253 yards and tossed 131 touchdowns and 131 interceptions after entering the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals in 1997.

No kidding. Maybe Bowlen oughta tip the Bucs if they get it. Or is he not entitled to it?

If anything there will probably be an agreement on this meaning two things.

The Bucs take the 7 mil in exchange for the pick we would have gotten if Jake were to play for them (4th round pick) either in the 2009 draft 2010 draft. Meaning in total the Bucs gave us 2(the 7th round pick in 2008 draft and a possible high draft pick [4th or higher but no higher then a 1st]) draft picks in exchange for 7mil in bonus money we paid.

        Or the 2nd possiblity is

the Money is split between both the Bucs and Denver both teams recover 3.5 mil in bonus money.

        The 3rd possibility is

the Broncos give up a draft pick and we recover the 7mil in bonus money.

If anything I want the 1st possiblity the 7mil be damned a 4th round pick is more valuable..
McDaniles Career as a failure of a Head Coach is being fulfilled. Termination of McFailure has happen.

Rejoice Bronco Fans we have taken our team back, but at a heavy cost.

Some compensation for the 7 million would make sense, but I'm just going off of what I read in the article (unless I'm missing something here)

well compensation would probably not be disclosed as of yet but because of this quote i think we may get some.

Its our money that the bucs are trying to recoop but 7mil is not worth a 7th round pick.

Maybe Jake will pull a Randy Weaver and disappear into the mountains.

If I were he, I'd opt for Canada, Mexico, South America (not Colombia though) or Europe.

              Just don't understand these contracts.
