  • Browns fired mediocrity, look to hire new mediocrity?

    lemme get this straight.

Last week the Browns fired their sub mediocre coach Romeo Crennel, but it looks like they are leaning towards hiring Eric Mangini.

What in the hell? They can't seriously be considering this!

They fired mediocrity to replace it with mediocrity????

they should have just kept Romeo Crennel as the head coach.

Eric Mangini is a terrible head coach. The Jets fired Herm the worm, and then replaced it with Mediocre Mangini. They learned their lesson.

you'd think the Browns would realize they are about to do the same thing.

Well no team in the NFL should take the Brown seriously, because they're a joke.

History repeats itself because stupid is as stupid does.

Eric Mangini, fired Monday by the New York Jets, is emerging as the favorite to become the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns, team and league sources said Saturday.

Shanahan failed in Oakland.... Belicheck failed in Cleveland. Even Parcells didn't succeed with the Jets.

Mangini had 2 out of 3 winning seasons with the Jets, and this year had to deal with Favre.

I don't thin Mangini is a bad choice at all for them.

mangini ain't no Shanahan, Belichick, or Parcells either. Mangina is a MORON!

but at least we all know why the Browns always suck, because they make bad decisions constantly even when common sense is in plain sight.

They got all hunky dory about getting Scott Pioli, but now that his demands are "too extreme" and he wants total control of the front office, Lerner has backed off and is hesitating.

Guess the past 10 years of sucking isn't enough to convince Lerner that he needs to dish out big bucks and give up some control to get a winner there.

      what a moron.

        Mediocre to you.

You call the Browns mediocre yet they aren't the ones that just fired their coach of 14 years. The Browns did not just fire their best coach in the history of the franchise. The Browns did not just fire their championship coach.

        The Broncos did.

You want to talk about being the laughingstock? The Browns are actually looking at somebody with Head Coaching experience. The Broncos? They aren't. They are interviewing coordinators from teams - and now their front-runner is the Patriots offensive coordinator? Sorry to be you and have to go through a coach that has growing pains. At least the Browns are looking at somebody that has had experience.

At least Mangini produced on the field and had 2 winning seasons our of the last three and is the anti-Romeo. Romeo loves his players and wants his players to be his best friends. From all accounts I've read, Mangini isn't like that. Mangini is hard on his players. That's what the Browns need. A coach that earns respect and doesn't give out "favors" to players to make them like him.

And guess what? Lerner has given big bucks. Luring coordinators and college coaches isn't the answer. It may be what you are looking for, you Tennesseean Bronco fan. But you sure are not a Browns fan.

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

Furthermore, Pioli's "demands" that the Lerner doesn't like?

Pioli demanded GM control (that's fine by me)

          BUT

Pioli demands to have Kirk Ferentz as his head coach. That is something the Browns do NOT need. I don't care how much Pioli is liked in the NFL, the Browns do not need a college coach. Crennel, had the Browns at 10-6 last year and has a decent nucleus of young players. All that is needed is the next step - a more experienced coach than Crennel. Mangini has been a more successful coach than Crennel and is at the very least a step in the right direction. The very last thing Lerner should be doing is throwing all the young talent on the Browns to a college coach. He needs a coach that will use their talents and make them better professionals.

well we'll see how this pans out, but I'd be willing to bet if the Browns let Pioli slip away, they won't be in the playoffs anytime soon, and it'll be the same ole story all over again.

Pioli is a guy who knows what he's doing. Lerner is a fool not to give him a shot.

And Kirk Ferentz is an amazing college coach.

              But guess what? That's college.

              Not the NFL.

College coaches are the absolute last thing that should be on Lerner's mind - even if they are the first thing in Pioli's mind.

If Pioli does get the job - the Browns will become worse just when they were on the verge. Why? Because of his infatuation with Ferentz. The last thing the Browns need is another Butch Davis.

Also, hypothetically, Pioli has been everywhere Bellichick has been. Bellichick is the "man" and he gets who he wants. Who's to say that Pioli isn't anything more than a glorified "yes" man for Bellichick?
