I am a Ricky Williams fan. I know, some of his antics were really off the wall, and irresponsible for sure, but the man walks his own special way. And if you listen, you will hear someone who is extremely genuine and goal oriented. And if nothing else, few can deny his athletic ability, and work ethic. And for Parcells to stick with him, tells me that he is well respectd for his effort, and team play. He has impressed the right dude, and that was not a given.

You get caught smoking and they make you go through a program before they let you return which im sure he went through. all professional sports needs to adopt a zero tolerance policy for illegal drug use/abuse and alcohol abuse. Playing Professional Ball is a privelege not a right.

To the contrary, Ricky Williams started to smoke marijuana because it alleviated the symptoms of his Anxiety Disorder. I don't disagree with you about it being a lack of inner strength in the case of people needing to be high to get by, but that is just substance abuse. People can do the same thing with alcohol and caffeine, both of which are completely legal. Marijuana can be used socially, much like alcohol. Not everyone uses it to forget there problems. Those who do use it for that are no different than alcoholics.

And where did i say athletes deserved special treatment? I cannot find that anywhere in my previous quote. They do not deserve special treatment, no one does. Williams has done nothing wrong to other people, I have never heard of him assaulting someone physically or verbally. Most reports I have heard of him he has been quite peaceful.

And yes i am fully aware Marijuana is illegal in most circumstances in the U.S. But what if that law was to change? Would you still find Williams to be a dirtbag? A loser? Or would it be okay, much like it is okay now to drink alcohol?
